Fizzo17 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Hi, I guess most of the C4 owners bought theirs cars from new. How many remote locking fobs did you get with your car? I only got the one which I thought was fine untill I gave the wife the spare key and she pointed out that she has to walk around the car to the passenger door to unlock the car! There is no key opening on the drivers side or on the boot. I understand that it is a left hand drive convertion and in France the key opening would be on the drivers side, but for right hand versions do you think we should be supplied with 2 remote fobs? Quote
ham's c4vts Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 i got 2 with my vts 180 but was told that you would normally only get 1 remote and a key. yes very strange that the lock is only on left side Quote
Mat Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I got one foldaway key remote control, and a plain key (that only opens passenger door). I wish i had shouted about it more when i got the car, especially if the price for a 2nd remote that i have been told on here is correct. Quote
Mat Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 yes very strange that the lock is only on left side Could it be because the frogs drive on the other side, and citroen didnt swap the door locks over for right hand drive models? In much the same way as the wipers are orientated to suit left hand drive, better than right. Quote
wozza Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Was told normal key is £60 to reaplce and the fob is neaer to £130. But yeah i only got 1 folding key as well. Quote

Guest CE05LDB Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 on the New C3 you get two folding Remote Keys. On about the frogs my sister said how the windscreen wipers are on the left side on her Peugeot 206 so top half or the drover's side windscreen you can't hardly see out of in the rain Quote
wozza Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 There is a slight difference in the C4 wipers on the passenger side but to be honest the bit where its cleared more you'd be sat looking at the sky looking out of it. The only problem i have with the C4 wipers is in very bad rain they just dont clear the screen fast enough at all. Would be nice if they were a bit quicker. Quote
hertsnminds Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Could it be because the frogs drive on the other sideand the Germans, Italians, Swiss, Spanish, rest of Europe, Americans, etc etc. Remember RHD cars are a minority in terms of a global market. The fact you have to use the passenger door to get into the car is only a real pain if the remote key is not working and you have a narrow garage. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote

Would be nice if they were a bit quicker.have you tried Rain X ?, you can get it from halfords etc, very good in wet conditions at anything above 40 mph. the rain beads up and runs off with the air flow on the windscreen so you dont have to use your wipers as much Quote
lee_marshuk Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 @ Wozza - yeah I've noticed that, the fast wipe isn't really fast enough I don't think. I got 2 folding keys with mine, but I believe it is only the Exclusive model you get that with anyway - bit of a rip off at £130 each if that's what you've been quoted!!! I also understand that if you have an alarm, and you use the passenger keyhole to unlock, the alarm sounds until you start the engine....... Quote
hertsnminds Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 when I have the remote with me at work and the wife wants to use the car. If you don't have the car with you why carry the remote? Just leave it on the hall table. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 If the Exclusive has 2 remote keys ham's c4vts should have 2 aswell. My lock on the C3 is on the drivers door. Never use it as there is no need to but did use it once to show a mate what the alarm sounded like Quote

Never use it as there is no need to but did use it once to show a mate what the alarm sounded like You'd have thought so really - but I'm sure I remember reading somewhere in the C4 literature that dual 'plips' were only given on the Exclusive model. Having said that, if they tried to fob me off (so to speak) with only one fob, when I'm spending this much money I'd have made them give me 2 or no deal really! Quote
wozza Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 It is a bit annoying that they dont give you 2 i mean for the amount of money we spend on the cars they should give us another proper folding key. Quote
Stuey Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 there is a part of me that likes not having visable locks on the drivers door as this will hopefully make the pikeys think twice before they try and nick it... I find that dealers tend to fold quite easily if you apply some presure...I got my upgraded alloys free and free fitting on my spoiler (and the saleswomans phone number but thats another story :P ) now I just need to think of something as compensation for the re-calls that keep cropping up... Quote
wozza Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Not surprised they gave you free fitting on the spoiler took me less than an hour to fit it and i had never done it before. There is only 2 torx screws holding a bit of the plastic in then 5 bolts. Quote
Stuey Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I did see one on the motorway clearly missing its spoiler, looked quite funny... Quote
wozza Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Not all the VTS's have spoilers although have heard of a few carwashes ripping them off. The cars dont look right without the spoiler though. But when i found out how much citroen wanted for one over £500 i was a bit miffed so i just got one from ebay. Looks great on the car though. http://mybigspoon.com/wozza/rear.JPG My car ^ Quote
Stuey Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 this one did have a spoiler at some point, there remnents of it's base still there. I agree there is definatly something lacking if they do not have a spoiler...£500!! thats madness, mine was £200 sprayed and fitted. What kind of crazy people use car washers?? no offense to people who do use them but your clearly mad (or like scratches, dirty wheels and dirty patches) I must admit they look sexy in the red, there is a bloke who works here with me who has olive green five door nasty colour+wrong shape=bad advert for a good car Quote
wozza Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I always take mine thorugh the local hand carwash place unless its nice out then i will do it myself as i make a better job of it. Just takes me hours since i usually polish and wax it all etc. There was only 2 other colours that appealed to me Black and Irdis. After the test drive i basically signed everything put down i wanted a black one then went back the next day after i saw a red one on the forecourt. Just looked absolutely lovely. Unfortunately it looks awful and isnt really red when it gets dirty. Quote
Stuey Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 the same as me again, if its nice the old bucket and sponge will come out. I'm a bit of a nazi when it comes to washing me baby, Auto Glym all the way baby! I was torn between Iridis and Blue... Quote
wozza Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Went out and bought a load of megs stuff whe i had my clio. Really want to get myself a proper PC Polisher though but there around $200 and have to be got from the states. Quote
