Guest Scuba Pete Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Hello, I wonder if anyone can help me. I have a 2003 C5 2.0 HDI Estate and I am trying to add cruise control. I have bought a stalk and installed it. When checking the ECU in lexia I can see the stalk operating. I have also added the second brake switch which shows up as the redundant switch in the injection ECU, which works fine. I enabled cruise control in the injection ECU but it does not work. I thought there might be something else to enable but I cannot find it. Any ideas? Thanks Peter Quote

Guest Scuba Pete Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Well that sucks. Can a dealer update the ecu? or would it be a new bsi? Pete Quote
mlkey Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Well that sucks. Can a dealer update the ecu? or would it be a new bsi? Pete My experience did not go that far, I gave up once I found that the BSI cruise option was missing. Have you checked to see if it is there? Quote
Guest Scuba Pete Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I don't see it. Where should it be? Quote
Guest mechcanico lee Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Hello Pete i am new to the site this is my first post, i have just fitted cruise on my girlfreinds 2001 c5 2L hdi and its working a treat. Is the extra brake pedal switch a dealer part ? the extra switch you have to fit is called a contact switch by the main dealer ........its NOT a brake switch ........ie when you press the brake pedal the switch goes open circuit ....the brake light switch goes closed circuit when you press the brake. We have Autologic systems at work (i am a car tech of 22years )all i had to do was go into engine systems ....configuration ....activate cruise....that was it , road test it worked great I dont know if they are all the same on other models mine has the bosch ecm so other ecms say siemens or sagem could be different A will post up some pictures a bit later , it may help someone who wants to do the mod . Hope this helps Lee Quote

Guest Scuba Pete Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Hello, Thank you for the reply and the pictures. I have the red switch as shown in your pictures. I took it from the same car I got the stalk from. The stalk buttons are working, as is the switch when I view the parameters in the lexia. I enabled cruise in the engine ecu but it does not work. You press the buttons while driving and nothing happens. I did notice that in lexia it shows the gear as 1st all the time. I don't know if there is a sensor for the gear in the manual box, maybe it is that. Any ideas. Peter Quote
Guest mechcanico lee Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I never noticed anything saying gear position in any parameters, but thinking about it the cruise will only operate in 4th or 5th gear so yes perhaps there is a gear switch indicator on the box somewhere. The post that i did was all i had to do with my car , it could be because my model is the se and quite high spec sat nav a big screen and so on , maybe it already has a gear position switch fitted, i will have a look round the gearbox and see if i can see any extra switches apart from the reverse switch. sifaan Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I have an interesting situation where I enabled Cruise Control in the Engine ECU settings but couldn't find it in the BSI settings. On my daily travels I don't have a chance to try cruise, but on Friday I had a longish drive and just decided to try it and I found that it works - i.e. with cruise in the "on" position, and driving at a decent speed (over 60km/h, although I think the threshold for activation is only 40 km/h) I pressed the plus button and took my foot off the accelerator and it maintained speed.hitting the brakes deactivates the cruise. the problem is, let's say I had activated cruise at 70, braked, and now picking up speed and going at 60, and try to activate cruise (plus or minus button didn't make a difference as I recall) and it goes back to the last speed at which cruise was activated (i.e. suddently revs upto 70) which is not what I want happening. I don't know if this is because of not enabling cruise in the BSI settings or just that I don't know how to use the cruise properly. Quote

I don't know if this is because of not enabling cruise in the BSI settings or just that I don't know how to use the cruise properly. according to the owner's handbook, this may actually be the expected behaviour - i.e. the plus or minus buttons "recall" the last stored cruise speed. only question is how do I set cruise at the new speed without recalling the earlier speed? if I turn the knob from off to on (say when driving at 60) would that do the job? I'm now thinking that the reason the settings doesn't appear in BSI is because there's no place on my 1st gen to display that cruise is active. whereas on facelifted versions I think the cruise speed is displayed in the instrument cluster. rcihjenn Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 This is a really useful thread - thanks !! I'm intending to give it a try on my 2.0Hdi estate, RP number is 9319, suggesting May 2002 build, actually registered Jan 2003. Only concern is that my "throttle" linkage is a cable to the throttle postion sensor body, rather than a motorised one. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Throttle-accelerator-position-sensor-Citroen-Berlingo-C5-Synergie-dispatch-/131420636464?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Model%3AC5&hash=item1e9947c530 Some suggestion that this rules out retrofitting cruise - has anyone further intelligence on this? Thanks!richjenn13 Quote
Figaro Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 2002 C5 2.0 L EW10I4. With manual transmissionI put the stalk and the lexia is recognized him.I bought a red brake pedal switch.1. I have no wires for connection red brake switch.2. I can't find cruise control activation in Lexia. No cruise control activation in BSI or ECU.I also have read that first must activate that option in Pre-Delivery Inspection, but "Function not supported for this vehicle".What should I do? villej Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 2002 1.8 manual No wires for brake pedal switch. It only has 2 wires connected and no other wires visible. is it impossible to add cruise? Quote
