Guest dizzyblond Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Hi guys...I have the pleasure - and pain - of owning a 2005 2.2Hdi hatchback, yes it has done 300K (kms NOT miles) but has been really well maintained as a company car for virtually all of it's life, which saw it driving up and down the East coast of Ozz between Melbourne in the south through Sydney up to Brisbane, all big chunks of motorway driving and not too much town work at all: OK I have a continual 'Anti-Pollution Fault' message and the associated (constant) dash lights, this has been like this for about 5-8,000kms (since I bought the car) and apart from the dash lights does not bother me - I replaced the cabin filter on the advice of a Citroen dealer but no luck...I now have the ESP shutting down and going in to 'limp mode' every 5 mins and of course this I will have to fix - and having read the excellent forums there seems to be several positive actions I can take to cure this annoying fault, I digress; what I would really like to find out is exactly which wire to cut to disable the horrible 'limp mode'? and 'yes' I do understand the ramifications of doing this if anything goes desperately wrong...BUT I am still determined to get rid of this awful message and it's attendant slow drive home!...I believe somewhere - I have searched but cannot locate it - in these forums someone actually identifies the wire to cut, any chance that someone can point me to the actual post please? or indeed offer any other serious positive advice??...I have had the 'Anti-Pollution Fault' checked by 3 Citroen Dealers (all of whom described the car as in excellent condition and with no faults and all said that this particular message virtually means 'nothing' and can be activated by any one of a 100 different minor faults) who also checked various relays/sensors etc etc and pronounced all OK and at the same time switched the message and lights off, but only for about 40-50kms and then heh presto it appears again...the interesting thing is that having purchased the car about 700kms away from where I live, when I drove it home after about 500kms the lights - and message - went out by themselves and staid off until I started the car the day after arriving home and then it was on for young and old, as we say here!!...any help very gratefully received...kind regards dizzy Quote

Guest dizzyblond Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Thanx seefive, there is certainly a lot of info in that post and also on another forum - eurovan2.com/forum - I intend to carry out a 'master reset' along the lines as posted here some time back - sorry can't recall who posted... "hello all i work in the dealer network and upon reading alot of the posts you may find this info useful How to reset all ecu's this procedure is called a power latch firstly turn on the ignition not engine running, open bonnet remove battery positive lead and then turn off ignition.then touch the positive lead to earth, this powers down all ecus and resets erasing intermittent faults in the process.then reconnect the battery lead.if the vehicle doesnt start straight away leave the ignition on for 2-3 mins as it has gone into anti scanning mode. IMPORTANT PLEASE READ CAREFULLYupon starting the vehicle DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE allow vehicle to idle until cooling fans cut in to allow the engine ecu to reset correctly and reprogramme the learning curve, then drive in all gears upto 4,000 rpm accellerating steadily. as stated this resets all ecus so any electrical faults caused by conflict errors in programming will be erased and fixed.if the fault is still evident there is a problem that will need further diagnosis QUOTE(safari @ Jun 26 2009, 09:43 AM) Do you mean touch the postive lead onto the negative lead? Won't this fry the alternator or electrics? Sounds dangerous - The engine is not running and the battery is totally disconnected. You are touching -ve to+ve to remove and remaining voltage held up by capacitance and guarantee total clearing of all old values AIUI." OK here is my next question: I intend to spray ALL connectors and plug in relay connectors etc etc with a good quality contact cleaner fluid...BUT...do I use the cleaner BEFORE the reset or after??...and does anyone know if this reset will zero all the counters ie. the FAP filter and additive counters??...again many thanx for any and all help...dizzy Look in C8 problems and fixes June 29 2009 Quote
