I'm going to regret asking this, but is the small temperature symbol next to the actual temperature gauge

just telling you this is the gauge or something else.

Yes once the engine is running after all the startup checks have completed that symbol is telling you the indicator shows engine temperature.

 

During the pre/ignition checking you should see OIL OK and the number of miles until the next service is due (at the top of the indicator). During this time the bars are showing oil level (I think).

it's the smaller symbol next to the main one, I thought it was obvious that the big one was the temperature gauge, in the handbook the smaller symbol is shown for water level p106/107 and I thought that this may be some sort of gauge.

Ahh that one cant remember what everything is for or where it is my owners manual is in the little drawer under the passenger seat lol. And i havnt driven my car for a few days lol. Would not be a good idea to go driving now either currently appraoching a stupid number of hours i have been awake.
