Hi,

Can anyone help? My Citroen Xsara is over heating and the in car fan is stuck on. Cant take the fuse out for the fan as I need this on to help cool the engine. Only overheats when sitting in traffic but ok when moving.

Thanks

P.S.

Can anyone tell me where the thermostat is situated?

Can anyone tell me where the thermostat is situated?

Hi,

Ive just recently changed my thermostat in my citroen xsara 1.8 16V (S Reg)

My thermostat was located on the right of the engine underneath the air box. if i remember correctly, i had to remove the air box first then take off the jubilee clip on the hoses around the thermostat then the 3 x 10mm long bolts that bolt the stat to the engine.

My symptoms were overheating and struggling to keep cool at speed. Fans on constantly. My top hose was cooler than the rest of the radiator after it was sat idling for about 10mins (until fans came on). Usually this is either 1) not enough water in cooling system, 2) Water pump failed or 3) thermostat failed.

As the thermostat is easiest and cheapest part to replace i started with this. You can leave the stat out if your not bothered if your car takes a little longer to warm up. This is not ideal in winter conditions. This is my own personal opinion and running a vehicle with know parts missing may result in irreversable damage being done to the car!
