Mike5483 Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Hi, My names Mike (as you can guess from my user name!!!) and I have a 2005 '05 C4 VTR+ 2.0l Petrol Coupe, had it since February. Ive been looking for a place to chat about these cars, but its so new there isnt one yet!!! I love this car to bits!!! I think it handles really well, you can get a bit of oversteer if you lift off mid corner!!! I think its built well and the plastics used are high quality (much better then the Mazda3 I nearly bought). Its also really comfortable, the seats are supportive and its so quiet inside, I couldnt believe it when I first drove it. Coming from a 1998 Rover 214, everything is just miles better, even down to the tax (Mr Brown just reduced it to £100)!!! Ive had a couple of minor issues with it, the CD chnager ejects CD1 on its own, and the rear brakes squeeled when reversing, but this was apparently a known fault and fixed under warrenty. Also, the doors rattled, but I fixed this my self. Currently, ive got a couple of little things I want to do. I want to get the door courtesy lights and fit hose and I want to fit an MP3 player, im looking into this. Ive read it can be done using a lead from Peugeot. Anyway, just wanted to say hi. Cheers, Mike Quote
wozza Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Welcome to the forums mate. There will be a C4 owners club opening soon the Xsara sports club will be changing to be C4 and xsara club. Few of us post over there as a result already but most of the C4 discussion is done in this forum for now until we have someplace better. And another one who has been pushing it i see :) That lift off oversteer can get quite snappy at times though and unfortunately the steering is just a little bit too artificial too let you know exactly what its doing. Handling on the cars is good though. im getting used to mine more and more now and learning to push it more the only problem i find is that at certain points i cant tell if the back ends gonna come flying out or not its just not communicative enough. Hasnt stopped me getting it sideways a few times though lol. The C4 really is the best built citroen around currently though and its one of the best looking cars on the road easily. Can see why there increasing in popularity so much. If you want to fit an MP3 player do you mean MP3 headunit or do you mean like an ipod type player? It really is worth changing the stock headunit if you like your music i changed to the top of the range Alpine unit and the sound quality difference was amazing so much brighter and cleaner the standard speakers didnt seem so bad anymore. But anyways welcome to the board and enjoy the car. Quote
syrup Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 High Mike, Welcome to this forum, the C4 is a great car isn't it.I don't want to be a party pooper but I think you may have done your sums wrong regarding road tax, according to What Car the 2.0 ltr VTR+ coupe has a CO2 rating (g/km) 193, which according to them puts it in band F £190. But I am willing to be corrected. They are a great and helpful bunch on here so enjoy. Keith Quote
wozza Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 It should be band F mines band E. At £150 or so it is Quote
Mike5483 Posted April 12, 2006 Author Posted April 12, 2006 No, your right!!! Last time I looked was the day after budget day. On Parkers, the car listed as VED group B, which was £100. It looks like is since been updated. Damn!!! I like the standard stereo, dont think ill be replacing it. Those tweeters look a sod to get at!!! Im going to install a connection for an MP3 player, such as an iPod, I haven't got an iPod yet, but plan to get one. Quote

Really easy to get the tweeters off actually just case of stickign in a flat head screw driver and popping the covers off then unplugging the standard tweeters its a 30 second job. The standard stereo is alright but once you hear something else it sounds awful in comparison i was happy with it but i wanted an MP3 player in my car best way way to go aftermarket and the quality difference was amazing. Deffinately worth it. I then however spent a further £1100 on upgrading speakers and adding amps lol. But it now sounds amazing lol. Only reason im saying go aftermarket is cause if you put the ipod in you still have to use the ipod to change tracks etc as the stock headunit cant interface with the ipod directly aftermarket ones you can stick the ipod in the glove box and then control it directly form the headunit. And that would cost you around £190 for the headunit with the ipod adaptor built in. And my tax is gonna be ridiculous next year :) looks like i will be jumping into band G if i get the car im after. Pisses me off considering this is supposed to be to keep the roads in order and not how much we polute the atmosphere. Quote
Mike5483 Posted April 13, 2006 Author Posted April 13, 2006 How did you get the power cable from the battery to the amp??? I cant see a way through the bulkhead without drilling it. Quote
wozza Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Not actually sure i had someone stick it in for me as i was beig lazy. Know how to sort all the interior cables out thats a doddle take a few seconds but will have a look not had a proper look under the bonnet really just remember seeing the voltmeter stuck on top of the battery.
