Hi, new member here looking for a bit of info/background.

On Thursday 5th May I ws driving home from work when the handbrake warning light illuminated and stop displayed. Managed to get home ok and when tried car later that evening it was OK. However on Fri morning the gear shift was stuck in park. Called the AA and they managed to release gear shift to neutral and told me to get it to dealership asap. It went to the Bolton dealership on Tues 10th, they carried out diagnostic checks - no faults found, checked brake switch - all ok, rebuilt centre console and tested - all ok, reinitialised gear cables - all ok.

If that is the case, how come the brake light/stop still lights up (only in an evening, not mornings)and now it appears the ESP/ASR is not operating?

has anyone got ideas so I can query it with them

Many thanks, Colin

Not sure what it is but for the cost of the Garage diagnostics it might be an idea to buy yourself a Lexia off Ebay and diagnose it with your computer.
