Ajay Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Hi, I have a C2 diesel and have accidentally smashed the glass lens for the front offside fog lamp. I read in another question that there is an access panel underneath the front bumper, for accessing this assembly to replace the bulb. I have located this panel, opened it and can feel the back of the assembly, but because of the position, have not yet been able to see inside.I have ordered a new assembly from my local Citroen dealership, picking it up tomorrow and want to attempt the replacement myself this weekend. I have the following questions:1. Safety - Having jacked up the front offside with a jack fitted at the jacking point specified in the user handbook, where do I locate my axlestand? I will consider jacking up the front nearside as well if I feel it necessary.2. Access - I am guessing that it would be a bit of a challenge working through the small access panel. Should I remove the entire trim round the inside of the wheelarch and is it straightforward to remove/replace?3. Replacement - How is the light assembly fitted, is it easy to remove and do I need any tools? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Quote
Ajay Posted June 3, 2011 Author Posted June 3, 2011 I've done it!In case anyone else has to do this job, this is how I did it.Jacking up the car - I found that the supplied jack did not lift the car up far enough to get an axle stand underneath, so I used my trolley jack. As for where to locate the axle stand, I located it where the lower suspension arm connects with the sub-frame.Having removed the wheel, I undid the trim round the front half wheel arch. Not sure if this is necessary once I was able to see what I was doing, but it did give me more room to move about. There were three types of fixings: One #10 bolt where the trim connects with the front bumper, engages with a captive spring clip. There were a couple of push clips that had slotted heads, just turn to lossen. Also a couple of plastic rivets, use a screwdriver to pull the head up and that should lossen it enough to prise the trim off. I did not have to remove the trim completely, just pull it away at the bottom end so that I could see the lamp assembly. As for the lamp. Disconnect the power lead, it's a push-fit with a clip. Underneath the housing is a #10 size bolt. Undo it completely, this is the only fixing. You will also find a plastic clip at the back near the fixing bolt, just press the two halves together to free. The lamp unit can now be removed from the front. Yes, it drops out forwards. To replace with new lamp, just reverse the above process. Time; it took me about an hour, but I could probably halve that time second time around. Quote
