mattyb Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 I've got a Sony CDX-DAB6650 radio/CD. Will the remote unit built in to the steering wheel of my Picasso work with this radio or will I need an adapter? :) Quote
wozza Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Need to get yourself a few adaptors to get it installed properly with the display working and the controls still working etc. Quote
mattyb Posted April 26, 2006 Author Posted April 26, 2006 Excellent, which adapters do I need? :) Quote
wozza Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 oki doki you will need, These if you have a 2000 - 2002 picasso if not i think it might be standard ISO connection although im not sure best pulling the radio out and looking. http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/index.php?...2ce088cf7d685f3 You will need this,http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_in...2ce088cf7d685f3 And thishttp://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_in...2ce088cf7d685f3 The 2nd 2 adaptors are for the controls 1 is for the actual interface for the vehicle then the other changes depending on the brand of stereo but they plug into each other. wozza Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 No problem mate. As long as it all works. That will still allow your original display for the system to work as well if its dash mounted. Quote
BigJohnD Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 How did you get on Matty? Does the DAB work OK, or are you getting "NO RECEPTION" in DAB mode? I'm looking to fit the Sony CDX DAB6650 DAB Radio/CD player from my last car to not a Picasso, but a C4 VTR+ The actual fitting of the head unit seems straightforward - it's the aerial which confuses me. I've accepted I'll lose the steeering wheel controls, but that's not a big loss to me, and I don't have reversing sensors. The existing Citroën aerial seems to be very good, very sensitive on FM, giving a strong signal. So initially I'm thinking of a splitter, rather than a second dedicated DAB aerial which would probably have to go on the rear windscreen because of the athermic front screen. However when I pull out the OEM Blaupunkt, I find the aerial connector is not the DIN connector I expected. Is it ISO or SMB (f)? In short, is the standard aerial DAB ready? And is there anything else I need to know when fitting an after-market HU? Quote
wozza Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 You will need a small adaptor for the aerial on an aftermarket unit it is only around 4 quid though. Can get them from most car audio stores. All i did with my own. Cant remember if its din to iso or iso to din though. http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/category.asp?category=801 I just know i got one of those been a long time since i had to get behind the back of the stereo. BigJohnD Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Thanks for the link. I've got an aerial adaptor and splitter on order. They're pretty standard pieces of kit. The real issue is going to be the standard C4 aerial - is it sufficiently Band III compliant to produce a strong and clean DAB signal? If not, it'll mean fitting a second DAB aerial, something I'm not looking forward to. You can see the SMB(F) socket, circled in red, and the black DIN aerial connector on the back of the Sony CDX-DAB6650 DAB/CD player.http://bigjohnd.250free.com/fiatforum/SonyCDX-DAB6650BackPlate03.jpg Quote
