Welshguy Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 One thing that I've always noticed on pictures of VTS's... It looks as if the B Pillar and Side Sills on the VTS are painted, not just simply plastic as in the case of my VT. Is that correct? If so...is there anything else external on the car that is painted on the VTR/VTS models that is simply plastic on the VT? Quote
Stuey Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 I think that is the only difference to be honest apart from the cosmetic stuff... Quote
Welshguy Posted April 30, 2006 Author Posted April 30, 2006 So they are painted. Correct? To be honest it is hard keeping plastic trim from fading, particularly in black, so I'd be interested in getting these colour coded to the rest of the car. Quote
Stuey Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 A decent spray shop should be able to do that for very little money I would imagine. Yours is black isnt it?? if so that would make it even easier for them to match it...I have just seen the brown leather too ICKY!! Quote
wozza Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 differences externally are. if its the 180vts the rear spoiler, Chrome exhaust, Colour coded rub strips on doors, A pillar and B pillar trim painted same colour as the spoiler and the windscreen surround so that graphite black colour. Quote
Stuey Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I'm with Welshguy, I want that the B pillar colour coded, might have the rub strips done at the same time...the list grows longer... Quote
Welshguy Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 Yeah might go get a quote from a bodyshop...I doubt it would cost more than £100... Quote
wozza Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I got a quote on the rub strips for £80. It depends on the colour of your car as well some are a lot harder to match properly. I asked a friend of mine who used to spray things he saw the colour of mine and siad its possibly one of the hardest colours he thinks to get perfect. :P Quote
Stuey Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 decent sprayers have a computer system that you put in the manufacturer and that brings up all their colours then gives you the ammount of each colour to match, the guy who did my wing operataes out the back of his van and he holds I think he said 12 colours and the various chemicals and fleks to make metalics and pearls....so very impressive. As we have new cars the colour shouldnt have faded yet. That is what causes most of the trouble as they have to spray over adjacent panels and blend it through... Quote
wozza Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I found some side skirts i like!!! My god its only rtaken me around 6 months lol. The lester ones look nice thoguh simple but enough to set it off i just dont like the lester fron the back apron isnt too back not a massive fan though. But i really like the skirts thinking about them now! http://www.lester.it/uk/catalogo_articolo.asp?id=3213 There on that link fairly simple but nice. But that 2 tier spoiler looks awful too much for the car it needs smooth lines not complicated spoilers just sutble changes suit the C4 in my eyes since the lines of the car are near enough perfect as they are imho. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 not too keen wozza, imo makes the car look lardy, and would need lowering as the wheel arches look funny( the wheels look like theyve been put in an arch way) or maybe its a secret 4wd off road model?lol Quote
Welshguy Posted May 2, 2006 Author Posted May 2, 2006 I have seen them before...If somebody reminds me later in the week I will dig through my big list of links and find all the bodykits etc that I have come across. As for my opinion...they are ok, but without the added depth of the front and back splitters the sideskirts are gonna look a lil bit funny on their own. I dont like the front and back bumpers either, but at least they match the depth of the added sideskirts. Quote
wozza Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Not sure how bad they would look on there own they would need the front to be matched and the back with something i just cant find anything that suits the front of the car or the rear of it. And there the simpliest skirts around i have seen. And i plan on lowering the car at somepoint anyway its crying out for a 40 - 60mm drop. Quote
Welshguy Posted May 2, 2006 Author Posted May 2, 2006 Agreed it needs to be lower!!! My C4 is lowered 30mm and that is still not low enough - the arches on the thing are HUGE !!! Quote
Welshguy Posted May 3, 2006 Author Posted May 3, 2006 http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/streettech/DSC01320.jpg Thats with a 30mm drop :o !!! I imagine it would look good with 17's and big tyres, or 18's with big tyres. I did have 18's on the car with 215/35 tyres and there was still LOADS of room in the arches! :o Quote
wozza Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Think it needs around 50-60mm to get the wheels sitting in the arches properly. How much did it help the handling lowering it though? Quote
Welshguy Posted May 4, 2006 Author Posted May 4, 2006 I think 40mm would be fine. The guy with the C4 on the Xsara forums has his C4 lowered 40mm and it looks good. As for handling - it is quite a bumpy ride quality, but the handling is very good - I have one corner I take every day coming home from work and I take it at 45mph easily while everybody else takes it at 25 :o Quote
wozza Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 I think even as stock the C4 has a fairly nice suspension setup for the type of car it is keeps bodyrolls down quite a bit anyways. Its quite stiff really. Obviously not as stiff as sportier cars etc but its not meant to drive the same way. Quote
