hertsnminds Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 I agree that the reversing light is next to useless on the 5 door but is in the same place on the Focus. In terms of comparison with a Focus I would think they have very similar engines as Ford and Citroen/Pug have had a joint development agreement on diesel engines for the last 6 years. My 1.6HDi (110) is giving similar MPG and is getting better with the miles, just reached 8,000. Best reading to date was an average 60mpg claiming close to 800 miles from 1 tank of fuel . Best actual was just over 630 miles from 1 tank. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
wozza Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Its a shame we dont get the nice gearbox like the focus's seem to get i drove my friends the other day and it just felt so much nicer to change gear. much more possitive feeling. Bit of a shame really since i would expect with similar engines the gearboxs would be similar but there not. managed to get 33mpg out of my 1.6 recently though. Over a 10 mile trip i also managed to get it up to a rather nice 56mpg. unfortunately then i hit traffic. Quote

barns Posted May 17, 2006 Author Posted May 17, 2006 mpg reading on my 1.6 is up at 30.7 after first proper run,not sure with it being new if this will increase much when its run in engine is well tight at moment but only got 60miles on clock.. Quote
Safety Engineer Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 My 2.0L started off with 23mpg and has improved considerably, now on nearly 7,000 miles. Quote
wozza Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 barns wait till the first service at 1000-1500 miles as it says in your book and the difference is massive the car feels more responsive it goes better etc. And since its new as soon as its heated up thrash the living bollocks out of it other wise piston rings dont make a proper seal and you loose power seen this proven a few times now on various engines. Seriously give the engine absolute hell when you can. Most new engines are already broken in on the bench so dont worry about it. Quote

wozza Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 If i wasnt living in the city centre id actually get decent MPG out of mine i realised the other day just how much of a difference it makes. Ah well i suppose i should enjoy it while i can im moving back into the outskirts again soon gonna love the extra money every month but going to miss my appartment. But need to move  Quote
Mike5483 Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Does anyone else have this gearbox characteristic... You put it in Fifth, then it you push it back towards the right and then back into neutral, it sticks??? If you just pull it from its resting position into neutral it goes ok, but actually guiding it out makes it stick somwhere between fifth, neutral and reverse!!! Quote
