GuyNorth Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Hi all, Just stumbled across this site as I've just ordered a new C4 1.6SX Petrol hatchback (Wicked Red) and it seems to be a great source of info. I'm trading in my '02 reg Picasso as I just fancied an update :P In fact many moons ago I used to be a part of the Picasso forum, didn't know it was still going!Unfortunately I've got to wait intil mid-June to pick up my new toy which was longer than I expected. Apparently wanting the bluetooth option will add a coupe of weeks to the delivery time :( Anyway, waffle over... G. Quote
wozza Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Welcome to the site mate hope you enjoy ya stay. and good choice of an upgrade :P When i ordered mine the wait was because i wanted a wicked red one at the time there were very very few wicked red coupes in the country. Most of the ones available seemed to be black or silver i had to wait for a red one. Odd the bluetooth function makes it take longer is only a button basically thats different. and possibly a headunit change nothing that should cause weeks of delay...ah well thats citroen for ya. GuyNorth Posted May 10, 2006 Author Posted May 10, 2006 Yeah, apparently the microphone is built into the courtesy light (above the windscreen) which might add a complication. Either way, they designed the bleedin' car from scratch so it shouldn't present that much of a problem. Must be just a backlog or something... G. Quote
wozza Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Thats a shame. Although i suppose just makes you want the car more and appreciate it when ya do get it. And you got a factory order one which is always a good thing. Just remember going to pick mine up i was honestly like an excited kid the night before. lol. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 welcome guynorth, hope you enjoy your car when it comes!i was the same Wozza, like a kid at christmas waiting for santa lol Quote
lee_marshuk Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 yeah me 2, although it was like waiting for santa when santa had traded his magic reindeer in for shanks' pony....i had to wait 3 and a half months for my car!! Quote
moggy Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 i was in a state of disbelief and sadness before gettin mine, trying to sort out the sh8t caused by an oap (r.i.p morlike) (check out stupid drivers thread)once sat behind the wheel i was happy and in alonso mode. welcome from another new guy Quote
wozza Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Guess my post over at parkers got some more people to come gonna print off some flyers and put them on a few peoples cars theres a red C4 coupe VTS HDI near where my mums lives pretty sure its the HDI due to there being no rear spoiler. But i think these people need flyering. Can only see it being a good service and helpful to these people who join up. Can imagine though with your clio getting that much damage. Musta upset you big time :P i loved my little clio to bits was such a lovely car and i had less problems with that than i did with my C4. Quote
WLT Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Quoting wozzagonna print off some flyers and put them on a few peoples cars theres a red C4 coupe VTS HDI near where my mums lives pretty sure its the HDI due to there being no rear spoiler. I bought a second hand VTS HDi and it came with the spoiler, so does this mean mine is an aftermarket addition or the guy near your nans has just added some VTS lettering. P.S also like to say thanks for being so freindly :P Quote
Stuey Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 the way to tell the difference is....does yours have a visible chrome exhaust?? does it have brushed alluminium centre console?? and does it have chrome bits on the steering wheel?? there are many more but they are the obvious ones... Quote
ham's c4vts Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 the main ones for a vts is that the petrol one has spoiler as standard and also the tail pipe sticking out, the diesel doesnt have these as standard. i think all coupes should have the spoiler as standard as it finishes the car off. Quote
Stuey Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 the main ones for a vts is that the petrol one has spoiler as standard and also the tail pipe sticking out, the diesel doesnt have these as standard. thats quite random...I though VTS was VTS petrol or diesel should be the same!! what a daft idea... hertsnminds Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 You also have the added Citroen factor which means a car built at a particular time does not actually match the written specs, depending if all parts (including trim) were available as it went down the production line. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
Welshguy Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 You would think that the VTS spoiler would come on both the petrol and diesel models, but thats the funny way in which Citroen think! I personally think it should be fitted to all C4 models as standard..really does make the car look a lot meaner. I am currently fitted VTS/VTR parts to my VT, as unfortunately this is my first car and I'm unable to match the amount the insurance companies wanted for a VTR/VTS. The only thing I wont copy across onto my VT is the VTR/VTS badge. Would look nice, but I would get dusted by anything and everything at traffic lights! :P Quote
WLT Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 I am currently fitted VTS/VTR parts to my VT, as unfortunately this is my first car and I'm unable to match the amount the insurance companies wanted for a VTR/VTS The insurance is not that bad really, i'm paying £25 a month more now for the VTS deisel (fullly comp) than i was for a '97 punto sx (3rd party f&t), and trust me no one in there right mind would want to steal that punto i got it cheap of my granda and on more than one occasion he left the hand break off, came out the next day and found the car embedded into the corner of his house. Still though got me to work and back each day (no where near as fun as the C4 though). Quote
wozza Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 VTR+ in the 1.6 version is only insurance group 6. For me living in central manchester at 22 doing 15K a year its less than £1000 with 1yrs NCB. Just less than £1000 was around £980 something. Moving back with my parents it was around £150 cheaper. Although I didnt pay for it free isnurance. Quote
WLT Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 The 2.0 litre turbo diesel is in group 10 (i think) still the insurance is ~£900 quid a year, thats for a 22 year old with no NCB. Quote
wozza Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Not bad my post code is what screws up my quotes i think due to living in city centre seen as the highest risk it could be. Quote
Welshguy Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 lol must be something to do with my Cardiff postcode then as I got screwed over on my first year of Insurance. My second year is now dirt cheap but I see no need to sell the VT and get a VTR/VTS...only gonna lose a lot of money on my VT so whats the point? on the flipside..180bhp  Quote
Mat Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 The only thing I wont copy across onto my VT is the VTR/VTS badge. Would look nice, but I would get dusted by anything and everything at traffic lights! Careful that doesnt invalidate your insurance. If it makes the car look like a higher spec model, it will increase the likihood of it being stolen, hence i know some insurance companies wont cough up, if they find out Quote
Welshguy Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Good point - although I doubt that's ever been an issue in Cardiff as most stolen cars end up in the parklands and burnt out lol  Quote
wozza Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Just declare the extras on the insurance. Most ocmpanies dont care about the wheels. Depending on how you tell them about the spoiler if you mention its a manufacturer original part and just an alternate spoiler from the standard item they may let it go and not charge you for it since its on the options list. You wouldn't decalre you have leather seats inside and thats standard. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 thats because its part of the standard trim, its additions like body kits , spoilers, wheels, air filters(induction kits), exhausts that should be declared as they'll try to get out of paying out at any opportunity. Quote
wozza Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 The coupe is also a great car to mod in starting as stock because most of the trims feature a new lower spoiler and they all have rear lip spoilers as standard so on the insurance you just say but it had one as standard 9 times out of 10 they let it go and you just say your changing it they cant really charge you more considering most of us want the original OEM spoiler as it honest in my eyes looks the best out of all the aftermarket ones.
