WLT Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Hi everyone. Does anyone know if the cd changer in the armrest connects to the stereo through a dedicated port or through the aux input. Having done a bit of poking around on 'tinternet i can get the aux inputs enabled on the stereo and using a pergueot adaptor (9706AG audio harness) means i can connect my mp3 player to the stereo, but obviously cant do this if the aux input is already in use. Thanks. Quote
Welshguy Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 You want to keep everything standard spec then eh? No doubt you probably can get mp3 enabled somehow, but I would go for an after-market CD stereo and changer. With a little searching I'm sure you could find one that would fit in the armrest? Quote
WLT Posted May 15, 2006 Author Posted May 15, 2006 I've got a little 30GB PDA that i was going to mount in the ashtray (fits near perfectly) as a kind of half way step towards an in car computer and was just wondering how hard it would be to link this to the excitsting car stereo. I already own an Mp3 stereo from my old car, but i would like to keep the excisting changer in the arm (I'm a bit gadget geeky and like to keep every possible way of doing everything still open). Also th dash just looks sleeker with the factory fit model. So set up would be something like this: PMA420 ---aux2---> Stereo <---?--- Cd Changer Just i dont know what ? is. Is it aux1 or dedicated changer port. P.S check out the PMA420 if your looking to get some kind of computer in your car. 30Gb hard disk, plays vids as well as songs and also has a tvout so you can connect it to a second monitor. oh yeah wireless network aswell. Not really a carputer but its much cheaper (amazon ~£220) and i'm sure theres someway of mounting flush with the dash. Quote
Mike5483 Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Your '?' is Aux 1. The stadard Blaupunkt unit has 2 Aux ports. If you have a changer, Aux port 1 is enabled and used. If you want a MP3, you have to get the part mentioned int the first post, and then get Citroen to enable aux port 2. The Peugeot lead will need to be re-wired slightly to get it to work in aux port 2 as its meant for aux port 1. Try and get Citroen to do it for free. its only 10 mins work. I got quoted for them to do it on my car and they wanted £30 odd quid!!! Suffice to say, I have no MP3 player as yet!!! Quote
WLT Posted May 15, 2006 Author Posted May 15, 2006 Thanks mike, thats excactly what i needed to know. £30s a bit steep, all they have to do is connect it up the computer and click enable, I'll be able to install the peugeot part. All the info is here: Installation Quote
wozza Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 If you check out some blaupunkt headunits you may be able to get a nice standard looking aftermarket one which has a lot more features its honestly worth upgrading the factory unit i thought it was quite good sounding until i put my Alpine unit in there and it just sounded so much better. barnyg Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 So do after market head units fit ok or is there a gap? I fancy the Sony Giga panel. Quote
wozza Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 there is a very very small gap between them you cant really tell though. You can see mine below that it fits in pretty much perfectly. http://mybigspoon.com/wozza/headunit.JPG Quote
