Guest chris558 Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Hi, new member here. I have a C3 which is now virtually three years old. I love it, but a few weeks ago, after having just started to drive home from work, a warning came up saying: engine temperature too high, and prompting me to stop. As the car had just started, I assumed this was a diagnostics problem. Citroen told me the engine temperature sensor was faulty, which I decided to get replaced by a local garage. However, the garage then said an electrical short circuit was the root cause, which had also caused a fault with the thermostat. I took it back to Citroen who replaced the thermostat, but did not report an electrical problem. Then they told me they'd discovered the oil pressure valve was faulty, which also had to be replaced. Today they tell me there has been a major oil leak and the whole engine has had to come out. I took the car in on Tuesday, and today is Thursaday. It may be fixed by tomorrow. The car is still covered by the warranty, but unfortunately, as I had the 20,000 mile service done by a local garage, the likelyhood is that any parts (oil filter, oil) will not be Citroen-approved, and therefore will not validate the warranty. The total cost is going to be £500+. I'm now kicking myself for not having the 20,000 mile service done by Citroen, but then again, I could never have expected such a variety of problems occuring! Just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems, or if it's worth writing to Citroen to let them know of these problems, to find out if any of them are known faults, and possibly claim some of the cost back? Thanks for reading, Chris, Oxford. Quote
