Mike5483 Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Ive got a 138BHP and when I blip the throttle, there is a distinct 'farty' sounding noise coming from under the car. The dealer has looked at it and after telling me its not a normal sound, they did a U-turn and are now telling me its perfectly normal on the 2.0l engine. I dont know what to believe. To me, it sounds wrong!!! It only does it when, if you are sitting stationary, you just give the throttle a quick prod. The car doesnt have to rev high, just a quick sharp prod to get the revs to rise. The sound on my car seems to come from under the car, near the catalitic converter. Does anyone elses do it??? Quote
Fizzo17 Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Hi Mike. I must say I haven't really noticed it onmine , but I do tend to have my stereo set on 17 most of the time ha ha. I will try later and let you know. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 mines the 180, but mine does sound a little bit farty when you lightly blip Quote
Fizzo17 Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Turned my stereo down this afternonn and triedit, but I don't get any 'farty' noises (well not from the car) :D Quote
wozza Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Not got a small hole in the exhaust or a seal thats not quite right or something have you? Get it into another dealer for them to check it over. And if they keep saying its normal see if you can take another one for a spin to compare. Quote
Mike5483 Posted May 25, 2006 Author Posted May 25, 2006 So it seems like it may be normal. Im going tp get under the car the weekend and feel around the exahaust see if I can find a hole. Have to be quick though, I dont wanna be putting my hands near the cat when it gets hot!!! Quote
