pork_pie Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 In some ways I am happy but in many instances, I am fecking livid. Booked the morning with a senior technician who I took for a ride with a Lexia Engine Management hooked up to the ECU. At first the fella tried to contradict my list of problems then he noticed that the software was detecting that the clutch was permanently engaged which can play havoc with the Engine management and things like power steering etc can play up. He suggested a clkutch switch was a problem, I told him that one was instaled two months ago on March 5th. Between March 5th and May 13th I have been to the dealer 9 times with engine power problems and cruise control failure. Everytime I went they said nothin was wrong. A faulty EGR and COM 2000 ECU was ordered and instaled during that time with the former taking 5 weeks to arrive. These instalattions did not solve the problem. What I am pissed off is that the cause of the problem was the incorrect fitting of the part 2 months ago and nothing was done/ detected in my numerous visits after that. The car worked like clockwork after another road test with the technician. I asked for a new oil level gauge sensor. I summoned the service manager I told him that I have been a victim of shoddy workmanship and how I have lost my confidence in the brand as well as earnings because I had to take time off to take the cnut in. He agreed about the quality of work. I told him that had problem not been fixed today I would have gone to a dealership and buy a skoda. I said that If I am gonna show confidence in my car by keeping it then I should have some goodwill coming my way, I asked for 1) Free servicing for life 2) Dashboard multi player 3) Chrome dash kit. He wil speak to his boss. He said what I am asking for costs a grand but I retorted saying I have lost nearly that in earnings alone not to mention inconveinience and anger management. Now the car is working like clockwork, should I keep it? What shall I do? You can understand my confusion. Quote
mooseshaver Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 My car is in today after the dealer Telfords said this problem was fixed. I'v since been taking the car to Ellis Davis as they at least try to resolve the oil guage problems, unlike Telfords. Telfords fitted parts incorrectly. So last week when the loss of power came back I contacted Ellis Davis to see if they would look at the problem while the oil guage is looked at. This morning I took the car in, and the lack of power thing happened and I got an engine fault light, but intead of turning off the engine and restarting I decided to show them what happens. Takes ages to drive 20 miles with no power. The mechanic was suprised by my cars performence as I took him for a quick spin. He told me not to turn the igniton off as this would make the error code disapear, so he took my little car away and I got a Picasso to play with. So perhaps part of the "can't find owt wrong with it" we all seem to get is because the fault code has disapeared byt the time we get our cars to the dealer. Quote
mooseshaver Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 waffle waffle waffle what I meant to say Porkie was that my car had been "fixed" but it so obviously hasn't. If they can't guarentee the fault is not going to come back a month or so later, don't take it. Quote

cee3peeoh Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 Just a quick note to moonshaver... why didn't you buy it from ellis davis in the first place?? Despite my gripe about the car ( lx badged as desire) ellis davis have been now't but helpful. when it goes in for the 1000-1500 check they are going to make sure that it is as citreon says "Desire". See Terry at ellis , he's a good 'un!.. But that said, Carlisle folk .. pah! (nearly jameater) cheers gaz ps... My cd changer I got at £200. (bit over the top but it is a blankyputty) Quote

pork_pie Posted May 13, 2003 Author Posted May 13, 2003 The blaupunkt unit, it it any good? Or shall I ask for something else in my claim for compensation? Quote
mooseshaver Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 "why didn't you buy it from ellis davis in the first place??" I was working in Carlisle at the time, so its easyer to drop it off for servicing. I do wish I had either bought it from Ellis Davis, or not at all. Wouldn't buy a skoda though. Had a courtesy one. Accidently turned off the traction control and slid across a corner bouncing off a kerb @ 60. alloy wheels were not as nice as when I started the journey and the steering wheel shuddered. and it pulled to the left. Oh, and my C3 needs a second EGR valve. And Citroen have decided to replace my dash display to get the oil guage working. Apparently my C3 SX has the display from an LX. Quote
cee3peeoh Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 PorkPie.. The cd changer is v.g. I've got 5 cd's in the thing and everything is controlled from the wiper stalk (change, volume etc). Excellent sound from the system as well. The only gripe i've got is that it has a stereo cassette above it ! (citreon website says that desire's have a single cd unit). Which is probably why you've got bits from an Lx on yr SX! ... I rang C UK this morning and they are ringing back to discuss why my Desire has LX plastered all over it , together with bits of SX, Right hand stowage (froggies are left handed , which means "oi !, put that seat on the right hand side cos it's going across the chunnel".), a Stereo instead of a CD player and gizmo's on the wiper stalks when they shouldn't be there. Moonshaver... did ellis davis lend you Picasso outright or did you table thump ? Quote
pork_pie Posted May 14, 2003 Author Posted May 14, 2003 C3PO. Mate, do you wanna swap your tape player for my CD single unit?? Quote
cee3peeoh Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 :o Pork Pie...Swap Cd/Cassette. No.!!.. If we do that the dashboard caves in and more air vents appear, the windscreen goes concave and a moduboard appears in the boot!!! (I'll maybe find my Desire sticker though!) gaz Quote
pork_pie Posted May 18, 2003 Author Posted May 18, 2003 HYAHHYAHHYAH Okay. The plan would have been to buy yout tape player so I can play my own recordings and use the Blaupunkt (which I was gonna gonna nick from Citroen Manchester) to play pre recorded garbage. However the CD player costs £380 including fitting. I have a Sony Minidisc in car player in the house doing nothing. If I fit this along with a Sony 6 disc player in the boot it costs less than half including fitting and will probably sound miles better. Maybe I'll just leave it. Quote
