Ciaran2903 Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Hi, i found this forum yesterday, its great!I have a 1.4 VTR in oriental blue, no mods, except mats and door sills! :) I only turned 17 at march 29th, was out driving march 29th at 1 minute past midnight!! lol!Still on "l's"!!arggh! But the second i pass the test, the vts rear spoiler is going on!! Not too sure if the tester would be too symathetic if i turned up with a rear spoiler!! :( Then i will get the vts alloys too, by that time i think i will need to tie a piece of string to my wallet so it does not fly away :D On another note does anyone have a shudder from the clutch after about an hour or two of start stop driving? thanks Quote
Welshguy Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Welcome! The shudder noise is mentioned in various threads m8 - have a look around! Any pix of the car? Quote
wozza Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Welcome to the forums mate. Just remember at your age depending on insurance company they may well whack a fair bit of money on your insurance for putting the spoiler and wheels on. And try get your own insurance when you can if your insured under parents its not a good idea if your the main driver of the car. Any bumps or anything you may have they can invalidate your policy because you lied to them etc. Great the world of car ownership welcome to being legally conned by our government. Quote
Stuey Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 welcome aboard you join the Oriental Blue club currently compromising of me and mat Wozza is right about your insurance...I would leave it alone for the moment as I imagine you are paying a massive ammount for your insurance already... -S- Quote
Mat Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 I have a 1.4 VTR in oriental blue, no mods, except mats and door sills! B) My mods? I don't remember releasing my own mod ! Good choice, btw. Quote
barns Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 god i must have been doing something wrong decent motor at 17...yours beats my first car mark 1 fiesta 950 pop plus (just) and i thought the plus bit made it special.......................... Quote
lab44 Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 I had an old Renault (Rubbish) 5 which i got for £650 or summin. At the time I really wanted a newish Clio (at the time this was the old shape one) - was all ready to buy it then phoned up the insurance which turned out to be huge on a new car so that was that lol. Still the 0% interest does make the C4 pretty affordable to buy new. Quote
wozza Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Also fairly cheap to insure. 1.6 VTR+ is a group 6 think the VTR is group 5 in the 1.6 and then group 4 for the 1.4's and 92 hdi. think the 2 2.0 come under group 10 and the 180 under 15. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 not bad for a first car, mine was a fiat panda,Dont laugh :D  Quote
wozza Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Mine was a 02 1.2 16v clio that was my first proper car anyways bought that new as well. Before that i had a mk2 golf. Quote
Mat Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Mine was a 1.1 SXi Saxo, 96 P reg. Had it for 5 years before graduation, followed by new job with decent sallary, resulting in C4. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 Yeah i know i am lucky! Do be honest i learnt how to control a car at a friends house, they live on about 1000 acres of the ashdown forest and they get given old bangers from companies, so i went there and thrashed them round!! and i learnt to manouver in my dads jag s-type (huge!) and my mums landrover, so i think they realised i could handle a car and did not need to start with a banger to learn "the art". My insurance is really good, it's about £550 more when i went on it, it all works out well under a grand! Thanks CIS!!soz didnt get back, damn computer broke! Quote
wozza Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Guessing your insured under parents? As i said if thats the case if your not down as the main driver your basically breaking the law and doing somethign that is called "fronting" Couple of people i know who crashed there cars in the winter and had similar insurance cars were not repaired under the insurance because the insurance companies investigated it and found they were the main driver as a result no payout. Just pointing this out as wouldnt want you if in the case you have an accident to basically ahve to pay out of your own pocket and waste money. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 ***oops***, thanks for the info, get my dad to look into it!!No pics at the mo due to new computer. Quote
wozza Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Some companies arent bothered some will tell you that you need to be the policy holder. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 oh ok, in the insurance form cis ask the value of the car including accesories, so i am not sure if they want to know what they are if/when i get them, but to be safe i will ask them. Quote
wozza Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Basically if you have upgraded stereo etc tell them least they will cover it on yours im guessing my spoiler is not covered for a replacement on my premium they will replace the wheels though if they get stolen so basically anything i add isnt covered but they didnt charge me extra for. The stereo im taking aftermarket insurance out on when i have finished it as they need pictures of the installation etc for it. Quote
