Welshguy Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 I finally have my new alloys! After a long search on ebay for VTS alloys, these babies popped up: http://i15.ebayimg.com/03/i/07/53/af/58_1_b.JPG Oxigin Crystal 18" Alloy Wheels & Toyo Proxes Tyres - ordered for a Citroen C4, but never fitted, and starting at only 1p. I eventually lost out on the bidding, but the highest bidder pulled out, leaving me to nip in and swipe them..at a ridicilously low price :D Pix on car coming soon.... Quote
Stuey Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 they look identical to the ST wheels...should look cool Quote
wozza Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 How much you get them for then? And I will wait till I see them on the car. As right now im not that much of a fan. But can change when there seen on a car. Quote
Welshguy Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Got them for £450. (and I have the receipt which states they are two months old, and were originally bought for £950!) They look amazing on the car wozza. Will try to get pix on here asap. Quote
Welshguy Posted June 21, 2006 Author Posted June 21, 2006 A qucik picture this morning of the alloys on the car - excuse the image quality - bad light plus no focus on camera plus little battery power left makes for bad shots! :D http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/streettech/C4.jpg Quote
wozza Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Get the outter rim diamond cut and polished up. and get the spokes painted in an anthracite colour and they would look the dogs danglies. Thats in my opinion anyways. Still I think multispoke type rims suit the C4 the best from the images I have seen. Such as the OZ Supertourismo wheels etc. Quote
Welshguy Posted June 21, 2006 Author Posted June 21, 2006 Thanks for the feedback Wozza! I really think they do suit the car as they are at the moment, although your suggestions are good. As for Multispokes...I do like SuperT's, but the trouble with multispokes is that they dont look good on big cars unless you go for a big size alloy - 19's would be a must I reckon. Quote
wozza Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Exactly! 19's would fill the arches perfectly. Could probably get bigger on there but i think that would be pushing it a bit. But 19's with a 60mm drop would be SWEET! Ah well off to the bodyshop to get a quote to see how much will cost to sort out my side panels :D And have alook in the scrap yard my mate wants a seat out of a bmw or something to turn into an office chair. And i just happen to know where theres a wrecked SL 55 AMG will have to see how much the guy wants for the seats im guessing silly prices but hey im not the one buying it. Quote
hertsnminds Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 If you start changing rim sizes don't forget to recalibrate the speedo and odometer. Not sure if you can do this but as the C4 can have 15, 16 or 17 inch wheels as standard it must be possible. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
Welshguy Posted June 21, 2006 Author Posted June 21, 2006 It would be possible yes, but not exactly sure who could do it. There would only be a tiny difference in the speedo neways, as because I have smaller tyres than the standard ones, the rolling radius is pretty much the same. As for 19's...well yeah that would be cool, but your probably looking at 215/35/19 tyres, and as I've said before - never again! As it happens I just popped out for lunch, and when parking up on my return I put full lock on and heard a small amount of scrubbing - that's with 18's and a 30mm drop... Quote
wozza Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 The difference is rather small. THink changing from 15's to 18's makes your speedo vary by less than 1mph so nothing too drastic i cant be arsed to work out the maths right now but its not a big deal especially considering most speedo's are out by a bit anyway. Welshguy Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 Updated pictures that are actually in focus. Was my fault...I was using the wrong setting on the camera :D http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/streettech/PIC00038.jpghttp://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/streettech/PIC00039.jpghttp://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/streettech/PIC00041.jpghttp://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/streettech/PIC00040.jpg Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Sorry whilst i get my tounge back in my mouth! They are SH*T HOT!!!! WOW!!! Quote
Welshguy Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 I agree totally :D And when you consider I only paid £450 for them and they are brand new (with Toyo Rubber!) then extra smiles all round :D Quote
sammys hdi vts Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 That is close to being a pornographic C4. Love the wheels on the black coupe, looks fantastic! Really really jealous! Quote
Welshguy Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 Thanks - nice to hear my efforts are appreciated! You may be jealous of my C4's looks, but its all show and no go! :D Quote
Welshguy Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 @ Wozza Still I think multispoke type rims suit the C4 the best from the images I have seen. Such as the OZ Supertourismo wheels etc. I forgot to say Wozza - have you seen this pic over at Planet Citroen? To be fair the SuperT's do look great on the C4 Go on...get them....you know you want to... :D http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/7186/p62955841280dezentwrc7xi.jpg Quote
hertsnminds Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 For everything you never wanted to know about wheel and tyre sizes, including a before and after calculator to make sure reading stay close to the same. http://www.chris-longhurst.com/carbibles/t...tyre_bible.html IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
Stuey Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 that looks fantastic and I dont think it is lowered that much either, just massive wheels.. I'f off to ATS to have me brakes checked as I think they are shagged. Squeking and spongy...might have to have a word with citreon and see if they should be going after 5K miles Quote
Welshguy Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 Lowered 30mm on Spax springs - not much of a difference in ride height, but a lot stiffer on the corners. Has a bad effect on ride quality though! Quote
evilone Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Sorry to spoil your fun. But I don't think your n/s o/s front windows are legal. Quote
Welshguy Posted June 26, 2006 Author Posted June 26, 2006 Technically no they are not. However....because its not a corsa or a fiesta and I dont look like a chav I have never been pulled over. Funny that isn't it! On the serious note they are the lightest I could get from the guy that fitted them. Quote
