trinity Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Had my C4 since November 05 and now in garage for third recall (and rust found recently on tailgate struts !) Am I just unlucky or is everyone else in the same postition ? Quote
Stuey Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 If you go back through the older posts then you will find out that we all are having these problems, its what happens with a "from the roots up" brand new model. Citroen could have tested the C4 for millions of miles but they would never find out that the airbags where not firing correctly... Quote
Mat Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I have no problems with them recalling my car. I've always been offered a free courtesy car, they are very polite and friendly, and explain what the recall is about. They also do the odd little fixes that i request under warranty at the same time. As for the rust. I havent reallly looked. Shall have a looka raound the car when i next wash it. Certainly havent noticed any (except my roofrack mount problem) Quote
trinity Posted June 21, 2006 Author Posted June 21, 2006 Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll grin and bear it for now ! Quote
wozza Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Wouldnt know about the tailgate struts im using different ones than those that came with the car anyways. Had to fit them when i fitted my spoiler they came in the kit. You get rcalls with lots of cars. I mean look at the mercedez A class that when it was first brought out was recalled due to it having problems where it would flip during emergencies if you steered too quickly. I think thats a bit worse than having your airbag reprogramed. Quote
Safety Engineer Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Look on the bright side, I had 1.7CDTi Vauxhall Astra as a hire car whilst waiting for my C4 ended up getting through two in three months due to electricla problems, after a little digging found a total of 17 recalls, most are not safety critical but are dealer only info - to be done during servicing and the owners don't get letters from Vauxhall, at least Citroen is more being more open about it. jonfish Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I have no problems with recalls - these things happen but my understanding is that the C4 isn't an "all new" car. The original 307 was, and the C4 and revised 307 are (hopefully) much improved versions. At least that's my understanding. Quote
wozza Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 The 307 and C4 share the same chassis but the electrics and internals and a few other bits and pieces are different why the C4 generally handles better and has a stiffer ride over the 307 as well. Quite a bit was changed between them even though they are basically the same car underneith. Will have ot see what the facelifted C4 is like though. Quote
Mike5483 Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Will have ot see what the facelifted C4 is like though. When is this due??? Quote
wozza Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Next year sometime apparently along with the new 1.6 turbo petrol engines which were developt with BMW. As well as the new auto box for the C4. when they launch the new picasso based on the C4 as well. And in 2008 we are supposed to be getting the C4 CC. Quote
