lab44 Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I am sure this has been mentioned before but couldnt find it. Under hard acceleration (have only noticed this pulling from first at roundabouts) I get a loud thud from the car. I think I have located it to the rear right hand side though cant be sure. Anyone else have this problem and if so know what the problem might be. Thanks Quote
sammys hdi vts Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I have the same thing on my hdi vts, I have always assumed it to be the traction control/esp system catching the wheel due to the high torque the car has. Think its a brake calliper snatching the wheel then releasing, bit like an abs sound! Quote
lab44 Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 Definately not the ESP on my car because i havent got it :D Only seems to happen in first gear when i pull away too quickly. Quote
Welshguy Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 As I've mentioned in previous threads about this - does both your gearbox and engine make the "clunking" noise? If so - it'll be one of your engine mounts has worn. I'd ask Citroen to check it out. Quote
hertsnminds Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 I get this too and thought is was the esp doing something. I tend to slip the clutch more when wanting a faster get away now. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
lab44 Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 no its not the gearbox or engine as far as I can tell. The noise comes from the back of the car and is a a loud thudding noise like a brick has just flown across the boot. got to take my car back on the 8th to get the electric window done (switch has broken) so might ask them about it then. Just thought it would be useful if I could give them any ideas as to what it might be before i go in Quote
kitsona Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I don't suppose it's your rear suspension is it? Quote
