wesbar Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Hello all. I've just got my C4 VTR+ hatchback and it's a great car. Couldn't be happier. It's replaced my BMW 528 and getting 65mpg this morning on a long drag. Awesome. A auick question though as I'm away this week and wont have chance to try it. Does the single slot CD player play MP3's?. I know the multi-changer does but cant find any mention of the single slot CD doing it. Thanks Quote
wozza Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Depends if you have the JBL upgrade or not the standard system does not play mp3's though. So you can either get the 9706ag wire and plug in a standalone portable mp3 player or get an aftermarket headunit bout the only 2 options I can think of. Quote
Mat Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 ...and getting 65mpg this morning on a long drag. Awesome. Diesel i take it ? Quote
Mat Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Depends if you have the JBL upgrade or not the standard system does not play mp3's though. So, is the JBL upgrade a different radio, not the RD4? I just had a flash of insperation, if its the RD4 with another port deactivated (as the AUX is), can we speak nicely to Mr Citroen and get it enabled? (Long shot, i know) Quote
wozza Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Think its actually a different radio altogether as the JBL one needs ot be able to take an amplifier has bi tuner double antenna etc. Quote
Mat Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 As i expected. Too early on a Monday morning for flashes of inspiration to be of any worth. Quote
wozza Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Tell me about it I couldnt sleep last night think i have managed to badly bruise my ribs or something. Plus the fact my knees are screwed up this morning and everything hurts. But hey gotta love playing rugby when im fit enough to do it. Quote
Stuey Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Depends if you have the JBL upgrade or not the standard system does not play mp3's though. mine does...I was listening to a MP3 cd this morning... Quote
wesbar Posted June 26, 2006 Author Posted June 26, 2006 It is diesel Mat. The 1.6 version. Gonna give the MP3 cd a try when i get home. If it works on Stuey's, you never know. Quote
Stuey Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 I wouldnt reccomend putting a cd in the wrong way up, it doesnt like that!! not paying attention is a bad thing... Quote
Mat Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Anyone know where we stand with CDRs in the Citroen fitted radio with respect to the warranty? My dad's Mondeo cd autochanger swallowed a CDR, and Ford wouldnt fix it under warranty, as they dont allow recorded CDs. Claimed they are slightly wider, whcih i have noticed, some are. They want £700 to replace his radio! And its not a standard size (6 CD autochanger and radio all in headunit), so he cant use the CD player unless he coughs up. Quote
Stuey Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 that sounds like a load of old b0ll0cks to me...if manufacturers cant design a product that will cope with what is a pretty standard item such as a CD then something has gone horribly wrong Quote
billynibbles Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 A quick question though as I'm away this week and wont have chance to try it. Does the single slot CD player play MP3's?. I know the multi-changer does but cant find any mention of the single slot CD doing it. ThanksMy JBL upgrade kit plays mp3s in the front slot, but my Blaupunkt multi-changer won't recognise them although it's OK with CD-Rs in general as long as they're CD-Audio format. It doesn't mind playing second fiddle to the mp3 files in the front slot though. Still, since you can get the approx equivalent of around 12 CDs in the front slot, even at a high quality rip rate, the ability to play a few "ordinary" CDs in the changer is somewhat academic. I'm very pleased with the way the central dashboard display shows track details, artist, title etc (as long as you make sure your MP3 files have got the ID3 tags) Quote
wozza Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Go after market can play mp3's plus get a nicer sound as well. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 finally put my alpine in with ipod adapter, sounds good with original speakers nice having mp3 on head unit and abillity to change tracks on ipod :D ...................... bad news is that rear parking sensors dont work :o , so had to remove it all, now back to standard :D :D :( :( Quote
wozza Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Hmm strange the parking sensors didnt work. Might need to go to citroen dealer and get them to disable the stock unit so car isnt looking for it etc like KFK said might cure it and maybe use the official citroen cable that they have for putting in new units. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 i wasnt aware the citroen had a lead i'll ring up. also phoned yesterdat about mp3 aux lead, and theve done a few now so ill book it in. Quote
Stuey Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 bad news is that rear parking sensors dont work :( , so had to remove it all, now back to standard :( :( :( :( use your mirrors you slacker :o that is random though that the parking sensors have packed up...is all that connected then?? Quote
