First weekend with the bas*ard and all seems well.

Cruise control works and power delivery seems normal.

Only things are the childlocks dont permanently stay on and the oil level gauge is useless.

I would change the car but unfortunately my bank account has been hacked since April 25th and there have been cash till withdrawals in which I cannot account for even tho my switch card has been in my possession hidden away for 4 weeks in order to build up the account so whats been going on?

The bank are investigating this.

One problem leads to another.

Even though banking has nothing to do with this forum, its influenced whether or not I replace my C3 which certainly has something to do with this forum so why you ask?

You ignore the problems I have with my locks and oil gauge.

If you had problems like myself and Mooseshaver had then you would understand so enjoy your car whilst it still works. By the way, Mooseshaver's is an HDi SX... just like yours.

I am glad my problems are mostly over.

Enjoy the motoring and keep us posted with your cruise control request.

Pork Pie,
There are three or so people who do nothing but complain about their cars on this forum, I would therefore conclude that the hundreds of others who are happy with theirs just read the forum with interest. There is no point in suggesting that we others may have the same problems just because a problem car is the same as mine (bet it is a different colour).
I very much enjoy driving my faultless and fun HDI 16v SX and have now covered over 23,000 trouble free miles in less than a year. I am sure that others have the same happy experience.
How about giving the moaning a rest for a few weeks so that we can enjoy a forum about our zippy, reliable, fun performance cars, which everyone of us chose to buy.

Can I just say that I'm genuinely pleased for Pork Pie.

I hope it isn't just a honeymoon period and that he settles down to enjoy his C3. I wouldn't blame him if he didn't, he's had an awful lot to put up with.

I reckon the oil gauge is more gimmick than useful tool. I'll continue to rely on the dipstick myself.

Good motoring Porkers!

Hiya madman, I'm glad to say that your comments on HJ helped me to make the decision to buy my C3 HDi SX 16v and I am very pleased with it, Thanks.

Go easy on Pork Pie though, he has had a real ***oops*** time of it and has posted his problems, no doubt as a cathartic measure but also to help or find others who may have the same problem to benefit from his experiences. If I develop similar symptoms as his C3 the first thing I'll have checked is the clutch switch which hopefully will cure it. Therefore no more pain thanks to Porkies experiences, thanks Porky and long may you enjoy the fruits of your frustrations!!

Regards,

AlanFC

PS There are whinges and there are legitimate complaints, it's important to distinguish between the two.

Thanks IMW and Alan.

I have always maintained the fact that I dearly love my C3 whilst hating the manufacturer and it says a lot when I am willing to keep it now when i could easily buy something else.

Okay some postings in the past especially in mid April were written in the heat of the moment where I threatened to burn my car and would not waste any urine outtign the flames out.

I have also said that not all C3's go wrong and if you are one of the lucky ones then good on you.

I have highlighted the fact that things can get misdiagnosed and poorly fitted. At first what was thought to be engine management failure was in fact a clutch switch that costs a fiver and takes 10 minutes to fix. I think some should know about this especially when it took 10 visits to the dealership to finally sort it out. You need to know that it took 5 weeks to wait for a part only to find out it was not the cause of the problem.

The past 10 weeks have been hellish and I would not want that to happen to anyone including you Madman (I say this with clenched teeth) but now its fixed and regardless of the fact theres still minor glitches, I am glad the car is running proplerly.

When you witness poor workmanship, do you want to keep your mouth shut?

No.

I have had my C3 16v HDi for about 6 months now and out of that time the dealer has had it in their possesion for over 2 weeks. It has been in and out of there about 8 or 9 times.
Initially it went in because it was excessively noisey on acceleration (the engine always sounded like it was really struggling (the kind of noise you get when you try to set off in 4th gear), this is still on going.) and a vibrating noise from the gear stick(still on going also despite hanging weights on the cable)
Then it went in for the acceleration problem a few people have mentioned (got to 2500-3000 rpm and lost power) this was sorted but may be rearing it ugly head again (or maybe I am just paranoid now).
It has also been in for the recall work to be done on it (I was told this would sort out the engine noise...it didn't).
Had the hand-brake button replaced (started to wear after a couple of months...a year I could live with but not 2 months.....this is starting to happen again)
Been on numerous 'test drives' with assorted levels of mechanics.
Have now told the dealer that they must get problems sorted and I don't care how long it takes but when I get it back I don't want to have to take it back to them except for servicing.
If they don't get problems sorted this time does anyone know where I stand legally for claiming compensation or changing the car?

Hope to hear from you soon!

Speak to Alan Bunstead: 01753 875255

He is in Trading Standards in Slough who deals with Citroen complaints.

Also contact your local trading standard office to complain about your dealer.

Ring Citroen UK asking for Gavin Hill.

Write to them too highlighting your problems with dates etc and make a few ultimatums (legal advice, write to car magazines etc.)

Good luck, you'll need it.

You have no chance of getting a replacement as its more than a month old and done more than 1000 miles. Even if you did qualify, you still would have a battle on your hands.

its nice to know that im not the only one who have problems with my C3 1.4 SX. most of us who bother to post on this site seem to have something in common, we bought a dud C3. madman is one of the lucky ones, if he bought a dud C3 he would probably post his complaints. I have a courtesy car while my C3 is in for repair, its the new corsa 1.2. the worse car I driven, very noisy engine, horrible car to drive. I like the C3, its a nice car to drive, the problem is I bought a dud. I think citroen should replace dud cars if they can't rectify the faults in a reasonale time.
have a look at HonestJohn.co.uk ( the back room) very interesting website.
