C4VTS Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I am thinking of installing the Blaupunkt CD/MP3 that I fitted in my Audi A4, into my C4 as it will be the best, and cheapest way to play MP3's. It also has the AUX2 3.5mm cable for an Ipod etc.I can get the steering control and aerial adapter from www.bluespot.co.uk. Would this invalidate the Citroen car warranty in any way? Quote
wozza Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I've got upgraded front components, 2 amps new headunit and a big sub etc in my C4 citroen themselves offer an adaptor to put an aftermarket headunit in the car so no it should not affect anything with the warranty not had any problems with mine and as i said mines not exactly a small system. C4VTS Posted June 27, 2006 Author Posted June 27, 2006 Thanks wozza. So I need to buy the head unit adapter from Citroen spares, so my unit will fit the C4 then ? Quote
wozza Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Can do that or you can buy one from ebay or if you have a multimetre and know what your doing get a BMW / ISO converter and just swap a couple wires around. Probably just easier to go to the dealer and ask them to give you the cable you require though. Quote
C4VTS Posted June 27, 2006 Author Posted June 27, 2006 Sorry wozza, when you said adapter, I thought you meant a standard head unit will not fit in the dashboard, but I think now you were just talking about the wiring? Quote
wozza Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Yup just the wiring as the C4 does not use a standard ISO connection it uses a BMW type connection. So you need a BMW to ISO converter there in order to plug in an aftermarket unit but then there not perfect either and need some modifcation. The standard unit is pretty much din sized so aftermarket units fit in perfectly. http://mybigspoon.com/wozza/dash.JPG How mine looks. Quote
wesbar Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Wozza - Do the controls on the steering wheel still work with an aftermarket head unit? (volume, track change etc). I'm after a TV/DVD head unit if anyone has got a recomendation, looking to spend about £300- £400 max Quote
wozza Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 TV/DVD tuner for £400 you will be lucky to get one 2nd hand for that mate. the ok ones retail new for £700 for a cheapish one. The good ones are over £1000. Theres 1 pioneer one thats quite good thats less than £600 new. And no the steering controls do not work. Not yet anyways been in touch with a few companies who all say the adaptor is still in development for our cars. One said should have one out in the next 2 months though. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 i recently fitted my alpine(the model below wozza's) with ipod adapter, sounden great with standard speakers but....... the rear parking sensors didnt work so if youve got them on yours they may not work either. :) so now back to standard but i will get the lead to use ipod Quote
wozza Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Hams kfk did a little thing about that apparently some of the cars suffer problems just replacing the headunit if you go to citroen though and get the cable and ask for them to set it so the stock headunit is not detected it might fix your problem so then you can use your alpine and still get the reverse sensors working as well. C4VTS Posted July 9, 2006 Author Posted July 9, 2006 How much does the ISO adapter for the C4 from Citroen Parts cost? I have seen these on the internet for about £25 including the aerial adapter and postage. ........................................................................................................................ I have now ordered the ISO and aerial adapters from Nexxia for £24.90. I will see if my old Blaupunkt Los Angeles which plays MP3's sounds any better than the standard radio. Also be interested to see if the reverse sensor warning still works, as I read that someone else found it not working. Quote
