wesbar Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 On a long run this morning, so i decided to put the cruise control on. pressed the set button and the digits on the cruise control just kept flashing. so i turned it off and on again. same thing, then the next time i tried it, the service light comes on. i've only had the car 5 days. Is this a common fault? People warned me that all those electrics in a Citroen was asking for trouble. Hope they weren't right. Quote
Mike5483 Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Normally, the digits flash because you are travelling at a speed over the set speed. For example, you are travelling at 70MPH, you turn the cruise control/limiter switch to reg and the digits '65' display (for example). If you then hit either the + or - set buttons, the car will take control and the digits will flash until it has bought you down to 66MPH or 64MPH depending on what button you set it with. Id say take it to the dealer and let them sort it. I believe a guy on here called Barney had trouble with this some time ago. Quote
hertsnminds Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 There is a known fault with 1.6 Hdi engine cars CC and there is a software update that will fix the problem. See other postings on this subject in the C4 section of the forum. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
wozza Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Had it in the correct gear at time right? Cruise will only come on in 4th and 5th but as you said you were on a long drive i expect you were in one of those gears. Did numbers appear on the system? If you want to turn the cruise on and have it start at the speed your currently doing instead of just turning it on set the scroller to reg as normal then tap the + speed key it will then turn the cruise control on and be set to the speed you are currently doing. It will flash if your going too slow, in wrong gear or at a different speed than what is set. Theres also the known problem with the cruise control sometimes putting up the serv light turning car off and on usually fixes it. Theres also a possibly fault with the clutch sensor that has been a recent one from somebody stopping the cruise from engaging. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 That happened to me, software upgrade fixed it. Quote
Stuey Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 mine has been fine...use it all the time as it is more economical than me driving :o Quote
wesbar Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 it's booked in for next saturday. guy in service dept said it would be the switch on the clutch pedal. hope it's quick cos they dont do courtesy cars on weekends. :o Quote
citroeneddie Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Had the clutch switch replaced om my C5 a couple of weeks ago- took about an hour and a half. Quote
hertsnminds Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Had 1 failure since the software update, once again when the car had just been filled with fuel. Similar to when the failure 1st happened with 650 miles on the clock. Due for the 12,500 mile service soon so will let the dealer know and see if they can come up with another solution (will suggest the clutch sensor). IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
