lab44 Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 done something really stupid and put my credit card in the top of the push draw thing next to the steering wheel (you know the ones made for change etc..) Anyway I pushed it back in and my credit card went flying down the back. I can see the card but having trouble pulling it out. Anyone know if it is possible to remove the drawer? Thanks Marc Quote
dave&trace Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 open drawer and pull the body of drawer towards you it does come out with force!!! i know we have had to retrive money ourselves Quote
Mike5483 Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 This is really difficult to describe, but Ill try... Open the drawer Look at the runner on the LHS of the drawer and follow it back to the drawer recess. You will see where the runner runs along, a small 'tab' type thing, its plastic and looks like it should be pushed to the left. Get something long and thin, a biro refill etc, and push that tab to the left, whilst pulling the drawer. It should come free. Putting it back requires you connecting the spring back to the drawer (its like a flat wire spring that rolls up on itself). Once conencted, just line the runners up and push the drawer back in. wozza Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Just yank it out basically it comes out done it to mine a few times trying to get things from the back of it. Quote
lab44 Posted July 1, 2006 Author Posted July 1, 2006 Thanks for that just yanked it out and that worked. Got my credit card out but managed to lose the spring/rolling thing down the back (oops). Think I might be able to get to it under the steering wheel but its so bloody hot in the my car at the moment might have a go later. Quote
Mike5483 Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 Yeah you can. Under the steering wheel is just like a thick carpet type panel that you can just pull down. it might even have fell onto this, so when you pull it down it might just roll onto the floor. Quote
lab44 Posted July 1, 2006 Author Posted July 1, 2006 After much searching managed to find it. Now the difficult part - sticking it back in without the coil thing falling down the back again :D Quote
Rich_Eason Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 So how do you open them when they are jammed shut? The drawer built into the air vent on the passenger side (assume this is actually a drawer and not a blank panel - it says in the manual that this is a drawer)is stuck shut and no amount of pushing releases it. I dont want to start levering as this will mark the drawer front. Not vital that I get this open (if it actually does) but be nice if I could.... Quote
wozza Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Smack it a bit. might be somehting thats caught between the drawer and the top so smacking it a bit might loosen it otherwise could try putting a rag somewhere and levering it so it wont scratch anything. Quote
lab44 Posted July 8, 2006 Author Posted July 8, 2006 Anyone know how I get the drawer back in. Have tried and tried but no luck. The problem is the metal spring - i attach it to the drawer, slide the drawer back in but as I slide the draw in the spring falls off back down the back. Thanks Quote
syrup Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Not having had the drawer out I'm not sure of the configuration, but might a bit of vaseline hold it in place. Quote
Mike5483 Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 When I put my drawer back in, I pulled the spring out of the drawer a little using my left hand, with the middle finger on the left hand side and the index finger on the right of the spring. (imagine the two finger salute but with fingers pointing downwards...) Then holding the drawer in your right hand, pull the spring out enough so that you can clip it back on to the back of the drawer. Once clipped on, line the runners up and push it in. Hope that helps you. Quote
