pvmw Posted May 19, 2003 Posted May 19, 2003 does anyone have any experience of towing with a diesel? I have a 4 wheel trailer with a small(ish) vintage racing car on it - total weight probably about 1 ton. I didn't buy the citroen expecting that it would be capable, I have an old barge of a Rover that has been the towcar, but it has a serious infestation of metal moth and may soon be recycled into garden shears. I see that the ZX handbook quotes a max. towing weight of 1100kg. I'm sure the engine has the power to tow, but I'm dubious that the car is heavy enough. Any comments? PaulW Quote
hairytea Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 not sure if this any help but my dad has a peugot 406 which broke down recently, i towed him 5 miles no problems at all! my ZX is the 1.9 Td model SX Zx, 1997 P registration. i aint got a clue how much the peugot weighed but gues a damn sight more than 1100 kgs. sorry if not the answer you are looking for but it may give you an idea what they are capable of???
