Ciaran2903 Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Just thinking about my alloy situation, i like the vts alloys, but they are expensive, and everywhere. So i thought to myself....."I think i may go down the aftermarket route..." I dont want anything flashy..I dont want to spend more than if i were to buy the VTS alloys... Any ideas for alloys that would look good??? Thanks, Quote
Stuey Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 OZ Superturismo or Milia Miglia 1000's look very cool but as they are big names they carry pretty big prices. Anything multispoke look pretty cool. A general rule is have opposite shaped wheels to your car, so if you have something like a C4 then you want straight spokes or if you have something less smoothed lined then go for curved spokes. wozza Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 These would look amazing in my opinion do you still want 17's or want to go bigger though? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/17-ALLOY-WHEELS-CITR...1QQcmdZViewItem Similar but slightly different in an 18" http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/18-ALLOY-WHEELS-CITR...1QQcmdZViewItem Quote
Stuey Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 ive said it before and I bloody sure I will say it again...DAMN YOU WOZZA!!! Quote
wozza Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 hahaha Sorry mate should know better not to put up things i know you want...especially at good prices. will try not to in future. haha Quote
Stuey Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 hahaha Sorry mate should know better not to put up things i know you want...especially at good prices. will try not to in future. haha much appriciated ;) thats alloys and a CD changer and a Mustang all in a day... :( Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 They are nice alloys, and also at a very nice price!!! I am really interested in new alloys. Would love to see what they would look like on a c4 coupe though!! hmmmm adobe photoshop here i come! I really want them now! ARGH! I think 17's would be good. What kind of rubber would i be looking at on 18's?? Would the ride be too awful?? Thanks Quote
Stuey Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 welshguy had 18's on his until he broke them and said the ride was bad but I think that was down to the fact it was lowered. I cant imagine that 18's will compromise ride all that much. You could go go to halfords or somewhere like that and see if they will let you take a wheel outside and put it next to the car so you can see it in the flesh... Quote
wozza Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Would look something a little like this. http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/7186/p62955841280dezentwrc7xi.jpg So bloody lovely! Quote
Stuey Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 those wheels are a smidge to big IMO, I think they are 19's but 17's are all good as you wont have to have the car altered to cope with them... Quote
ham's c4vts Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 still looks good though! wouldnt mind super t's on mine, those wheels on ebay require tyres too(rims only) Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 I remember that pic, and dug it up again today before you posted it, and it just looks brilliant! The big plus being that it does not look at all flashy! IMO anyway! I think that will be priority numero uno now, put the spoiler down to 2! Thanks guys Quote
wozza Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 See i already had the 17's since i had a VTR+ but the spoiler is a need in my opinion it just makes the car has to be black though the colour coded ones dont look as nice imo. Saw a red colour coded one just didnt fit the same. But wheels do come before spoiler. And i think you NEED some nice multispokes personally ;) Quote
C4VTS Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Insurance companies will want to add another £100 to insure alloys as a 'modification' to manufacturers spec. If your car is stolen/damaged, you will not recover cost of extra alloys or any other mod unless declared. Why not just buy a car with the spec you want in the first place ? Quote
wozza Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Because most of the time the ones that come with the car are crap there heavy ugly things. And most insurance companies dont mind if you have alloys already changing to another type of alloy does not affect anything. i can slap some 19" alloys on tomorrow been told they will not charge me a penny more. Same with a few of my mates policies as well only things there allowed to change without problems is there alloys wheels. Quote
Welshguy Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Stuey is spot on RE: my alloys....I have my new ones (18") on my C4 now, and with 225/40 tyres on the alloys are fine :) Quote
Stuey Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Stuey is spot on RE: my alloys.... Always spot on mate :) :P Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 Cool, thanks. About the thing about buying the car with the spec you want: Too expensive, to buy and insure, the VTR is the highest spec with a 1.4. Quote
wozza Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 The 1.6 VTR+ is only a group 6 though the price difference in insurance is rather small but car costs more more ot tax more to put fuel in etc. not ideal for everyone though thats young due to extra costs especially new young drivers as we get penalised loads already. I mean we can pay more to insure a 1.0 litre 8yr old corsa than someone whos a bit older does on a VTS etc. My insurance on my 1.6 vtr+ with 1yr noclaims and im 22 is nearly £1300. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 Yeah, i already use well over £100 a week on petrol anyway! I did 1100 miles in 8 days! The bonus being i still dont pay for petrol! But my dad is not too happy! :) Quote
Stuey Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 my insurance was £1100...quite enough for 1 year thanks very much. I did get a quote a VTS using this years detials and it was down to £2700 which for the car isnt too bad really and I am looking at about £700 this year which is pretty awesome... Quote

wozza Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Yeah thats usually true if you want like for like coverage some companies offer it but charge you. my friends changed his focus 15" wheels for some 17" ST 170 wheels and didnt charge him any extra. Yet he is not allowed to put a spoiler on or touch the engine in anyway at all. Quote
