barra68 Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 i just purchased a C4 2006 5 door hatch 1.6 lt deisel in australia and i am after a bit of info regarding Mp3 / Cd multi stack changes installation. Are the OEM single Cd players factory coded and will the after market Cd changer have any detrimental affect on the vehicle at all??If anyone has any information regarding this can they please let me know because i really would like to make progress on this ;) Thanks Barra68 Citroen C4 :( Quote
wozza Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Welcome to the forums. You can put any aftermarket cd player in Citroen actually have there own adaptor cable for it. Then just a case of taking old unit out and putting the new one in takes a few minutes. the standard radio is near enough 1din size so only a very small gap around the edges nothing that would annoy many people. Just remove it using a wire coathanger and push into the 2 holes either side should work. The only thing is depending on the model you have you may not be able to control the computer thign without putting original stereo back in. I have the menu, mode, esc, dimmer keys etc on my steering wheel not sure if you do though so may need to put the stock system in when you need ot change it. Will have no effect on the vehicle though i have had mine installed for a good few months now also upgraded the front component speakers and added a couple amplifiers and a subwoofer. picture of mine below to show you how large the gap is when installing an aftermarket unit. http://mybigspoon.com/wozza/dash.JPG Hope that helps with what you needed to know mate if theres anything else just let us know sure one of us will be able to answer your question theres a few of us with aftermarket units in ours now with no one having any issues except 1 whos reversing sensors didnt work afterwards. Were not sure if that can be fixed by citroen though... Quote
barra68 Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 Thanks mate, we found that we can put a Kenwood 10 disc MP3 / CD Changer with FM Modulator wireless, which is costing us about $420.00 which is great. I am hoping that this will eleviate my proble. The stock head unit sounds great and I like the controls on the steering wheel I think my daughter would get a bit pissy at me if I go and change to much. You might be able to tell me, I need to find a power sourse or run cables around the front of the dash for a radar detector, I would like to hard wire this in as well. the next job is a bluetooth car kit ( this should be easy enough as I can pick up power from the cig lighters. You may have some other ideas like power from the top console??Please let me know if you have any ideasChris Quote
wozza Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 bluetooth kit is simple if you get citroens own kit. powerfeed might be able to take one from where the headunit is just splice into it and run it up behind the dash from there can get under the dash fairly easily just pull the clips for the carpet out then think its a couple torx screws and you can pull a couple sections of the dash off did it on my own car as my crossovers are mounted behind the dash. barra68 Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 sorry for the stupid questions because i only got it yesterday, and want to have a play this weekend. is the plastic pannel on top of the dash that covers the tweeters does that just clip off. is it easy enough to do so without damaging anything??this "should" be all my questions i appreciate your quick responces in these questions, i have forwarded your answers to the Citroen car dealer (manager) of Perth Western Australia, as he too was very curiouse about all these questions.thanks againbarra68 Quote
wozza Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Taking the power supply from headunit cable not sure about but "should" work if not just have to take it from the cigarette lighter in the centre console and run it underneath. Getting the top off Im not sure about without goign and having a look i know it came off fairly eaily and doesnt look like there is anything to screw it on with so would imagine it pops off with clips. I know mine was taken off but i didnt do it so bit cautious of that as cant give you a proper answer. The tweeter grills just pop off though with a flat head screw driver so could have a look under the tweeters themselves see if theres any screws on the top as under the tweeters would seem the most logical place to put them if there is any. Otherwise on drivers side just get under the dash and push the cable up from under might be a bit of a bugger but should be able to get it through with some persuasion and yanking on parts of the dash. Cant give you a proper answer though unless i go take my car to bits which i cant really do today lol. Quote
