Red Greg Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Hi all. I've found the info posted on this site useful.I've recently bought a C4 16HDI and I'm very happy with it. However, I miss playing my compilation Mp3 format CD's.Are there any compatible head units for the C4 that can play Mp3's? Thanks Quote

Red Greg Posted August 4, 2006 Author Posted August 4, 2006 Hi Wozza, Thanks for the feedback. Can you perhaps help with advising on where I can buy a head unit (one that is avialable specifically for the Citroens) for my C4I would like to either play MP3 CD's or if that is not possible, I would like to connect an MP3 player (iPod, etc.) to the system. I don't want to loose any functions ie. cotrolls on steering, menu on head unit, etc.I've tried to source something in SA, but without any joy. Please help. Quote
Red Greg Posted August 4, 2006 Author Posted August 4, 2006 Hi Wozza, I forgot to mention that the Blaupunkt that came installed in the car, has no aux inputs. Quote
wozza Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 It does have aux inputs the standard unit which will allow you to plug an ipod adaptor in you just need the 9706AG cable from peugout then just a case of connecting it to the right pins at the back of the headunit. Only other way to play MP3 compilation cd's is as i said after market unit but i dont think theres any one with a steering wheel control out for it yet apart from balupunkt and im not the biggest fan of there headunits although the high end ones do sound nice and have loads of adjustment. I just prefer of the main brands pioneer, alpine. Quote
andya99 Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 I have had my C4 for only a few weeks and when asking about the spec etc the dealer told me was not sure if the standard stereo that came with the car could play mp3's. Anyway all I have played in my CD since having the car is CD compilations I have made using itunes, both tracks bought online (protected files) and tracks imported into itunes and converted to mp3. I don't know much about ICE but my experience has just been a case of burn a CD and play? Quote
hertsnminds Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 compilations I have made using itunes, both tracks bought online (protected files) and tracks imported into itunes and converted to mp3. Unless you have changed your iTunes preferences it will create standard audio CD's when you ask it to burn a playlist (no matter what format it has the files stored in (mp3 etc etc). You can change your CD creation preferences so that an MP3 format CD is created when you click the burn button, apart from the sound quality you will be able to get lots more tracks on an MP3 CD compared to a standard audio CD. wozza Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 SQ of MP3 over original audio cd is not that uch of a difference if you use higher bit rates 192kb/s is a good one anymore is pointless though. But will never sound as good as the original CD. Could never really tell so much on the stock speakers though it is more noticeable on my system now though. Quote
powza Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Just a warning for anyone thinking of getting an FM transmitter to play MP3's through their car stereo. I saw a recent advert for the Belkin TuneCast - thought this looked a cheap and cheerful way of getting round the problem. I got hold of one and gave it a try but i wouldnt recommend it, particularly if you live in a city. The bandwave (is that what you call it? bandwidth? my mind has suddenly gone blank!) in a city will probably be so crowded that you can't get a clear signal - other stations are constantly causing interference. Don't know what it would be like in the country, but here in Liverpool its a waste of space. By the way, they are still technically illegal to use in this country, although it seems this is about to change. If you look at the PC World advert for them it says in the small print that you can buy but not use them in this country! :P Quote
