wheyaye Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Hi, Thinking of buying a new C4 - used to drive Citroens in the past, but now as my next car I'm set on getting a C4 VTS. Only problem is - why don't they have the bleeding spoiler on the HDi? Personally I think it sets the car off and it looks like something major is missing without it. Is there anything else missing that is on the petrol version? Do you know if you can specify it as an option when you buy the car? Cheers... Quote
dave&trace Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 the difference's are the diesel vts has:-no exhaust trim no chrome gear lever knoband doesn't have 180bhpboot spoilerbut you probably get more than 20mpg Quote
Rich_Eason Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 You can buy the spoiler as an approved accessory but is ££££ Quote
ham's c4vts Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 dave&trace, what mpg do you get and what milege have you done?ive been getting 28.2 mpg (according to trip compuer) around town stuck in traffic which i dont find bad,no worse than my 1.6 03 xsara 16v. going camping soon towing a trailer from derby to swanage so ill let you know what i get according to trip comp and filling upcheersJamie Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 And you can also buy the exhaust trim, oh wait, come to think of it, it may be a model specific accessory!? But i do know that you can buy it.... if you want it. Not sure you can buy the 180bhp though  (unless you forget about the economy and get the petrol!) No matter which model you get, not sure you can go wrong with a C4! Try and find a better looking car for the money, you would have a hard time finding a better looking car even with much much more expensive cars! Quote
Rich_Eason Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 You'll have to cut a slot in the trim in the back for the exaust and "think" the exaust points down at the ground. I find the M.P.G in my 180 VTS no worse than a 1.8 Focus, in fact it is better in some respects, e.g. even though it revs higher at motorway speeds it seems to use less fuel than the Focus did at say 80mph...? wheyaye Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 Thanks - I'm coming from a Cooper S which gives 26mpg on a good day, so even if I go for the petrol, any improvement is an improvement. I used to drive a Xsara HDi 90, which gave amazing MPG and mid-range acceleration so I know the benefits of that camp too. Decisions, decisions. Did anyone go for the Navidrive option?... There seems very limited information on it to read up on. I like the idea of being able to make hands-free calls AND have an integrated sat nav at the same time, I know its not bluetooth though. Rich_Eason Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Bluetooth function is good and worth every penny, even better if your mobile has all the functions that can be operated via the C4 (My Samsung D500 has limited function e.g. answer call make call, Motorola Pebl has full function phone book entry retrieval etc etc....). Have no experience of the Navidrive although I think there is a topic somewhere on this forum about it. Quote
wozza Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Might be better getting the petrol vts you may not get 50mpg but you get 30 and a much cheaper car to buy and it only needs servicing half as much. 12,000 miles for the diesel 20,000 for the petrol. When you work it out you dont save much money going to a diesel you just get more out of a tank of fuel unless your doing 20,000+ a year. Other things to think about is you are going to be coming from a faster better handling car. But im guessing you want the larger size of the C4 more. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Did anyone go for the Navidrive option?... too expensive get a tomtom or other satnav as its imo not worth it Quote
wheyaye Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 Thanks all, they're all good points. Think I'll probably take the petrol route. Once upon a time, I used to have to clock up intergalactic miles to get to work - no longer, so a diesel is less needed. I'm off to the local dealer tomorrow to see what kind of deal I can get, will let you know how I get on. Quote
wozza Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Good luck with it they can knock off massive amounts so be cheeky and see if they will throw anything in as well. Quote
C4VTS Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 the difference's are the diesel vts has:-no chrome gear lever knob Actually incorrect. The VTS diesel has a chrome insert on the leather gear lever knob. The VTS petrol has an aluminium gear lever knob. (checked the sales brochure) I use TomTom for Satnav which is probably better than any car manufacturers built in product and a lot cheaper too. Plus you can add a database of all the 'safety cameras'. Only had my ex-demo Hdi VTS a week and with aircon on 19 degrees, I am getting 46mpg on average of mainly motorway driving. I will cut the speed down a bit next week and see if this improves, and also try the aircon on 21 degrees to see if that helps. I only got diesel due to the mileage I drive(about 20,000miles/yr), and the fact I will be keeping the car for at least 5 years. So the higher price paid will be worth it. Quote
