Z3M Roadster Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Took my C4 in this morning to have the windscreen trim replaced, wheels balanced (bearing in mind the car has been to 3 other citroen dealers, none of whom can balance them) and sort out the aircon as it only blows cold when the car is moving. Arrived at the dealer this evening, the trim has been replaced which is good. I was then told that 2 technician took the car out re-balanced the wheels but were still not happy with it but have no idea what is wrong with the car. As for the aircon problem, they tested this and said that when the revs drop the aircon will get warmer and it is "common." The chap on the service desk was more than helpful, which makes a change for my experience of Citroen and thought that this was rather laughable and unacceptable and he is going to call Citroen UK tomorrow to see how to progress matters. When will this car ever be perfect?!?! I am guessing never Quote
barns Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 i'm not impressed with the air con on mine either, its not cold enough full stop.It is air con and not climate control but slap it on full and try to aim vents towards you which is nearly impossible and you still can feel hot and bothered. I would go as far as to say its the worst ive had, the cars only a few months old so it shouldn't require servicing but rather have a sun than this.... Quote
wozza Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 See i had mine on earlier and i had to put the heating on after a few minutes my fingers were ice cold from it quie happy with mine. It did only blow cold air out though a few months ago but seems to have stopped doing that now. And have you asked them to check the tracking on the car see if thats a cause of issues? Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted August 10, 2006 Author Posted August 10, 2006 Yes it is aircon and not climate. It is never really cold and the only way to feel cool is, as you say, to direct the vents at you at stick it on full fan, but the ambient air temperature in the car never seems to cool down much. But getting warmer when the car is stationary definitely indicates there is something wrong. Tracking/alignment/balancing has been carried out on numerous occasions, they even tried replacing all of the wheels, still no joy. I will wait and see what Citroen UK say, if anything. Quote
wozza Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 On the aircon front mines climate dunno if it makes a difference though. Since both you say yours isnt that cold but have the manual one. Bit of a bugger your having so many problems with it though, I have only had 1 one thing that screwed up really which was a suspension bush resulting in an occasionally knocking noise. Other than that i have not had any serious issues just annoying rattles which nearly everyone had the passenger door rattle. Be interesting to here what Citroen UK say. But from what i have heard there bloody useless. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 On the aircon note, my aircon gets freezing!! In the heat wave I:1. Put the windows down2. Put the aircon on full, and on its coldest setting.3. Put the recirculate on. It gets cold enough to put the windows down before i have reached the end of our lane! I also have the manual air-con, but it has been great, i end up having to put the fan on a low setting and not on the coldest setting because it gets so cold! Has been much colder since i was told that it gets colder with the recirculate on (obvious really!! ). Quote
wozza Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 You put the windows down with the air con on? just kind of defeats the object of having aircon turned on. Quote
lab44 Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I find putting recirculate on seems to make it go really cold - dunno why but i def havent had a problem with it ever being too warm - i usually dont even turn it up that much. btw it does seem to get colder as you start driving. Quote
lee_marshuk Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Im guessing ciaran means he puts the windows down and aircon + recirculate on when he first gets in the car....and then puts the windows up a couple of minutes later, not running all the time with aircon & windows open which is like tryin to cool down the whole earth with your private aircon unit!! On a side note, mine is the climate control not manual, and if I put mine on LO or in fact anything under 16, even when my temp guage registered 53 degrees when in France, I couldn't stand it it was so cold - left it on 16 all the time during that!! Ciaran2903 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 It gets cold enough to put the windows down yeah, that was a typing error. I meant i end up putting the windows up after a minute or so. find putting recirculate on seems to make it go really cold - dunno why It is because when it is off, the air used comes from outside, therefore it is hot (im guessing you only have the aircon on the coldest setting when it is warm or hot :D  ). But when you put the recirculate on, the air used is the air in the car, therefore when the aircon ends up putting out cold air, the air con is making cold air colder, rather than trying to make hot air cold. :D Quote
barns Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Yes the air con does get slightly cooler on recirculate, but i was told not to run with the air con on this setting for any great length of time as all the condensation that is taken out of the cabin air causes problems with the seals and air con unit when switched off.Which causes the life of the unit to be reduced. Got this info from a sub contract air con engineer at work who re-pressurised car units as a side line. Not sure if he was telling the truth but just took his word for it. Quote
