paul.o Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 I have just taken over a 05 vtr+ wicked red which had/has the following faults 1. Hot air from all vents all the time. This was repaired by changing the air con control assembly which was a dash out job by the dealers. 2. Vibration through the steering wheel from 60mph onwards. The dealer said they could not detect it! 3. Rev counter display missing pixels between 2000-2500 rpm and only says 'troen' at the bottom of the display. Dealer say part not in until end of september. 3. Faulty door mirrior switch works left right only if you press it very lightly. Not bothered now i know how to get to work. 4. Door mirroir selection switch does not light up ( been told by two differant dealers) that it should / should not light up? Will take out the switch panel myself to find out which is true. 5. Wind screen had large scratch across driver side wiper sweep due to prevoius driver allowing wiper arm (with out blade) to gouge groves in it! Had it replaced yesterday but the new one has a defect at the lower right bottom edge as if the glass is distorted which gives a magnifing effect. 6. Slight miss fire at idle (or lumpy idle) dealer could not detect it! 7. The rear suspension has a clonk over bumps again the dealer could not detect it! Apart from that nice car. ;) Quote
jonfish Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Would love to know about the mirror selection switch light. Mine doesn't. dealer said they don't. Seems odd to me. Quote

Apart from that nice car. ;)1) Had that fixed on mine. Seems to be a common fault. 2) I get some vibration from 66 - 72 mph. I don't normally drive that slow so not a major problem. 3) I don't look at the rev counter much, but I think mines ok. 3) (3 again?) Door mirror works fine. 4) My door mirror selection switch does not light up, so I assume that is correct? 6) Slight misfire at idle is normal for the diesels I am told by sales! 7) Mine is ok, some have had rear shocks replaced. Yes it is a nice car :D Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 3) (3 again?) Door mirror works fine. Lovely work Holmes! :D 2) I get some vibration from 66 - 72 mph. (Hardly hit 80)I must be a rare bread.......and 17 year old petrol head that is paranoid about cops and speed cameras!! Too many cop documentry shows! ;) Quote
wozza Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Just a few problems then lol. 1) had it for a couple weeks went away by itself. 2) Used to get this mentioned it to dealer when my car was there for a couple days been fine since although not sure what they did. 3) No problems with my rev counter 4) Mines fine again. 5) mine does not light up either only the windows. 6) No missfire on mine but mines a petrol engine very silent although idle is a bit lumpy when you first start the car lot of new cars are like this now its an emissions thing apparently helps to keep them lower at startup. 7) Dealer should be able to sort this know issue on a few of them that the suspension clonks had my fronts sorted a few weeks ago was just a bushing though. Z3M Roadster Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Sounds like my car. I have some of those faults too. Aircon won't blow cold unless the car is moving. This has been repaired once but has recurred. Had new tyres and now one can balance the wheels including Citroen. My mirrors no longer adjust, the motors make a noise but the mirrors are stuck, unless you give them a helpful push with your finger. Good luck getting everything sorted, I have had no luck with the useless dealers I have tried. I am told someone is coming direct from Citroen to inspect the car on the 30th. Fingers crossed the car will be faultless for the first time in 18months Quote
incubus Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Well number 1 on your list will stay with me for a very long time to come.... :D I had Warm air blowing constantly throughout July.. God it was Hot. The dealer kept putting back the job until my wife said enough is enough.."This is getting Dangerous". especially coming back from a long day out to West Mids Safari park...We were actually falling asleep while driving because of the Heat... Now this is when we got to the truth..!!! Citroen UK were only giving independant Dealers...4 to 5 hours to repair the fault...The actual job takes nearer to 10..Hence the reluctance to take the job on at a loss to the dealer... :( ... The fault by the way is caused by a young Plonker in France or wherever they're built tightening a plastic bolt too much and breaking open the Box...I'm told the bolt has now been replaced with a Metal one...??? ... Still a great car even though i am now getting the odd vibration and rattle coming from the Dash..which was'nt there before... :( I was told by a friend before they took the job on..."Be prepared for a Rattling Dash when thats done"....... ;) Voila....Rattling Dash... :D ... paul.o Posted August 19, 2006 Author Posted August 19, 2006 2. Vibration through the steering wheel from 60mph onwards. Its a petrol and the vibration gets worse even at 110 mph Quote

Then i'd say your a lucky Boy... :D I dont think my Rattle is the Dash itself..But certainly something inside the Dash is a rattling away..I'll probably locate and fix it myself when i'm not so busy... wozza Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Had my dash to bit literally more than once. headunit install, speaker install etc. No rattles what so ever. If it is rattling tell your dealer or take it apart yourself if your up to the job and got some time. Pretty much taken my entire car to bits now can tell you just about hot to get off every panel on the car without braking a clip. And vibrations on mine are non exsistent on a 1.6 VTR+ and its been on the other side of 120mph before now. Quote
hertsnminds Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Is this really a company car? Does your fleet manager hate you or does your company always supply cars to employees with this many faults? If I was being supplied a company car, which you pay tax on as a benefit I would complain to the fleet manager. If I were a fleet manager and had a car with this many faults I would expect the dealer to be sorting them out pretty quickly if they wanted to keep my fleet business. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
paul.o Posted August 20, 2006 Author Posted August 20, 2006 Good point, previous driver did,nt care as they were leaving the company. Did,nt know until took car over that it had these faults. Got air con fixed as first job on list. No problem with getting everything fixed. Quote
fuelguage Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 My C4 was manufactured sometime after July19 th 06 as this is the latest date I can find on any label under the bonnet. My window switches do light up. There are quite a few changes to the C4 since February when they changed the interier fabric of the SX to velor from cloth. The cover over the coolant header tank is now cut away so you can view the coolant level, there are changes to the engine mapping, the air intake has been modified . The stainless exhaust has been modified and so have the heat shields at the rear.I think due to many other changes the C4 currently manufactured can be considered to be a Mk2Regardsjack Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 .... they changed the interier fabric of the SX to velor from cloth.... That is because they found that when they original cloth gets water on it, it becomes stained! Yes mine was one of those, it has had all the seats replaced and scotchguarded, however they still mark when water gets on them. Quote
C4VTS Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 My window switches do light up. I think everyones window switches light up. It's the door mirror select button that does not light up. Quote
wozza Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Windows and arrow pad light up right left selector does not on mine. Quote
paul.o Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 Well the car goes in tomorrow for the replacement rev display which the dealer says will take a hour to do. Autoglass came back to replace the front windscreen but I inspected the glass before it was fitted. It had the same defect! I therefore insisted that they a fit a citroen windscreen not a copy The fitting service is great and is not the fault of the fitters who do a first class job. I also removed the switch assembly from the drivers side door and can confirmed that the door mirrior selection switch does not light up. For the record all the other switches are within this assembly and therefore can be lit up from underneath however the mirrior selection switch sits on top of the assembly and can not be lit in the same way. I have'nt had time to get the front wheels balanced yet however the lumpy idle has improved with two goes of injector cleaning additives and a few good fast drives on the m60. but i can't talk of my incounter with a C2 Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 As of yesterday mine has started to idle badly when cold and wheel imbalance is getting worse. Quote
paul.o Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 I must check my tyre pressures again as i have just noticed the sticker on the driver side A post which says 2.5 bar (36.3 psi) for the front and2.3 bar (33.4 psi) for the rear. when i checked last they had 32psi in the front and 34 psi in the rear! Quote
wozza Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Last time I looked at mine it said 2.5 front and 2.7 rear have got the 17" wheels on mine though. Still seems odd that my rear is put up more and your rear is less... Quote
paul.o Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 Maybe its because yours is a vtr+ coupe? Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Rears generally require lower pressure. I have never owned a car with greater pressure in the rear tyres than the front. Quote
paul.o Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 Maybe but in general big cars ( I had a old bmw 7 series) which had 34 front and 36 in the rear. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 but i can't talk of my incounter with a C2 ??? Quote
