wozza Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Maybe should go have a look might have got confused could be 2.7 front 2.5 rear. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 You know that you cant do things like that!! :( I need to know! :P Quote
C4VTRhdi Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I inflated my tyres yesterday as the ride didnt feel right beforehand. They were all at 2.1 bar, but I inflated them to what it says inside the door which like your saying is more at the rear than the front. Something like 2.3 front 2.7 back(approx guess without looking) but im still finding the low speed ride well a bit crashy. I thought the C4 in the vtr spec at least had quite a comfortable ride??? I also cant wait to ditch those god damn awful michelins. The girlfriend has them on her golf and i hated them then. Noisy ,uncomfortable , give me my conti premium conatacts anyday of the week. They are the best all round tyre Ive had for grip, wear, ride comfort and the trump card they are ultra silent. There maybe better handling tyres but none that are so good in so many areas, and no i dont work for Continental tyres!! Quote
wozza Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 The Michelin PE2's are great tyres i find remember the C4 has a fairly hard ride anyway for the type of car it is mix that with big alloys and you have a bit of a hardsh ride due to the lower profile tyres. And you get a lot of tyre noise? I have pretty much non...you have got the normal Pilot Exalto's fitted right? I find there great grippy in the wet and dry low road noise cant say the cars uncomfortable either considering im on 17's. Quote
C4VTRhdi Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Wozza maybe I just need to drive it a bit more only had it for a week so bit early to give a verdict. I think the motorway ride is great and the noise levels are very low. I read once they were best in the class. I just dont get on with the michelins im on 16's and im sure they are michelin energy tyres which I hate. The fronts are also near the end of their life so that wont help. I think your michelins are probably a higher model, as i only have 16's  Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I did have alot of road noise with my VTR, but found that they were very grippy. I also was complemented on how comfortable the ride was, but they were from Canada, and they all had American cars  Disclamer: I have nothing against Canadians, infact I am one! :P Quote
jonfish Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Re. poor ride. Have you considered the rear shocks ? This is a known issue with some cars as mentioned on the French planet citroen forum a while back. Some (particularly rear) make groaning noises at low speed (<5mph). The standard "fix" for this is to grease them which did infact stop noise on mine. However at 12 month service I mentioned rear knocking noise, thinking it was the exhaust, and they changed the rear shocks. The ride / handling which i had always been a bit disappointed with cf. old shape focus has been very significantly improved. The knocking noise is still there ! Quote
Safety Engineer Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 C4VTRhdi I know what you mean about the Conti's bloody fantastic tyres, not a fan of Michelin, I get great wear from them but they are not very good in the wet compared to conti's I've run even the new Michelins. As a budget have found the Uniroyals (also made by continental) a good tyre. Speaking of which anyone know how long it takes Citroen to reply to an e-mail, I had a query with them about tyre pressures buthave had no response for several weeks. Quote

I expect they are still at lunch :D Why not just ask your local dealers service staff? Quote
C4VTRhdi Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 jonfish that made me chuckle about greasing them because when my car was in yesterday to fix an oil leak (faulty seal on the turbo) I complained about the rear suspension. When I came back to collect the car I asked what they had done and he said dont worry we have greased them but for me to keep an eye on them. Safety engineer agree contis are great , michelins always seem to last a while as a ive heard this before but to be honest id rather have the contis anyday even though they are quite expensive. Quote
