wozza Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Not too bad mate, So you looking for a new C4 or something else? Shoud be able to get another VTR 1.4 and pay insurance with that. Or spend a bit more and upgrade a bit. Quote
Mike5483 Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Decline it, they'll come back with a better offer than that, not that thats bad. Quote
Stuey Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 thats not a bad offer at all, I have just had a look on Autotrader and there is a 1.6 VTR+ for 8K... not sure declining the offer will do much good really, not sure though never had to claim.. come on Ciaran I want to see pictures man PICTURES!! Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 A C4 for sure, i am fine with a 1.4 VTR, that is because i am not sure of the insurance price gap between groups (including a claim). come on Ciaran I want to see pictures man PICTURES!! I will post the original ones now (when i say "now" i mean i will find them, scan them ect ect), they only show the frontal damage and the one side that was still perfect! :P There printer broke. They said that they would take new ones but instead moved the car to a different lot :P  Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 Your wish is my command.......http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g262/Ciaran2903/lastscan.jpg Doesn't show the passenger side damage, which is ALL caved in! Quote
C4VTS Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Here's another damaged C4 with pictureshttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2005-CITROEN-C4-LX-H...1QQcmdZViewItem Quote
wozza Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 To be honest it doesnt look THAT bad. Looks salvagable unless theres some chassis damage etc but form those pictures looks mainly cosmetic. Seen cars that look worse than that put back on the road. And the 1.6 VTR+ is insurance Group 6 so not actually that much more to insure over the 1.4 VTR but with you having a claim and a write off on your insurance its gonna be higher anyway. There is one thing im curious about why all these C4's keep popping up with side damage got to be a reason so many people are hitting things in them. And Ciaran where you from? Just noticed your car has a Manchester plate on it. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 And Ciaran where you from? Just noticed your car has a Manchester plate on it. I am from the sussex, the car is from Manchester. My dad was going to a business trip in Scotland, he took a flight the day before the meeting to Manchester, bought the car, flew to Scotland and went to the meeting. May sound like a waste of money (flights and stuff), but because it was a business trip, his company payed for it :D :P It it hard to see how that C4 got the scrapes on the side :P Did the driver scrape something whilst parking??I am having trouble understanding how it got the scrapes on it from the apparant accident  Oh and the most expensive thing about my car was the airbags, they said £1000 a bag. Quote
wozza Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Thats a cheap airbag :S Your curtain ones deployed didnt they? Can see why it'd be around £1000 then. Quote
C4VTS Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 It it hard to see how that C4 got the scrapes on the side :P Did the driver scrape something whilst parking??I am having trouble understanding how it got the scrapes on it from the apparant accident :P My guess is that it got sandwiched by a truck and a car, possibly on a roundabout and was caught in the trucks blindspot. Them airbags are not cheap  Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 Thats a cheap airbag :S Your curtain ones deployed didnt they? Can see why it'd be around £1000 then. Yes they did, would most likely have saved the passenger from serious injury or even death! Quote
Stuey Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 the cosmetic stuff doesnt look that bad really but as people have said it is the airbags that have made it a write off...you will be needing new seats and probably a whole new dash too... Quote
Rich_Eason Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 It it hard to see how that C4 got the scrapes on the side :P Did the driver scrape something whilst parking??I am having trouble understanding how it got the scrapes on it from the apparant accident :P My guess is that it got sandwiched by a truck and a car, possibly on a roundabout and was caught in the trucks blindspot. Them airbags are not cheap :P Believe me if that was sandwhiched between a truck and roundabout it would look a lot worse than that....Been there and done it. My mini cooper was T boned on a roundabout and subsiquently turned into a two seat in-line seater. The front passenger seat came up and over my head in the drivers seat :D  Would have thought a new dash would be £££££££ Quote
Stuey Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 yaeh a new dash would be much moolah...and the labour costs to fit it must be astronomical. It cant be a quick or easy job all things considered... Quote
wozza Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Not that hard to fit a dash usually to be honest. Just looks harder than it is. Quote
Stuey Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 it looks like a 1 piece unit...thats what makes me think it would be a pain in the arse...wheres KFK when you need him?? maybe if we say his name 3 times he will appear you know a bit like beetlejuice?? Quote
wozza Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 It comes apart in a few places but the parts are generally fairly large. Didnt take the guys at the audio store long to work out how to get it apart though. But sure KFK can tell us a bit more. Wouldnt mind taking mine out actually to try fit my tweeters in somewhere better. I think you just pop tweeter grills off though and theres some screws under there which allows the top small section to come off. Quote
C4VTRhdi Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Ciaran im thinking of selling my C4 in wicked red on an 05 plate. Its a 1.6 vtr hdi 92 bhp and is group 4 insurance so would be ideal for you. Quote
wozza Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Thought you had a 110 mate? And how come your getting rid? Quote
Stuey Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I was gonna ask the same question!! why are you selling?? let the inquisition commence!! Quote
C4VTRhdi Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Yeh I thought I had a 110 but now realise I bought a 92 lol Well Im thinking its a 92 from what ive read on here. I was a bit dubious when I had driven it for a while I thought it would be a bit quicker. I find it quite punchy and it would feel quicker than Ciarans 1.4 but it isnt for me. I do like the C4 though and want another, bit gutted really as it looks spot on in red. Thing is ive only had it a week so its got a full 6 months tax and has just been dealer serviced and valeted so is spot on. Quote
wozza Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Did they sell it to you as a 110? If so then they have misinformed you about what they sold you surely there must be something you can do about that? Although i think the 110 only comes in VTR+ trim doesnt it?Same as the 1.6 petrol only comes in VTR+. Quote
C4VTRhdi Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Looking at the documentation it just says C4 hdi vtr, I was dumb and didnt realise that the 110bhp doesnt come in the vtr trim only the plus. If I can get what I paid for it ill be ok. Ill just have to add a few more pence to get the 110. Thats the only way I can think of doing it. Quote
