Rich_Eason Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 OK this morning me and SWMBOID (She who must be obeyed in doors) had a tiff. The senario... I get the car out of the garage and drive round to the front of the house to pick up SWMBOID. I have asked her to bring out my work bag. Car unlocked. I pull up outside the house where SWMBOID then tries to pull off the boot handle trying to get in the boot. All I can hear is her winging at me through the VTS double insulated glass (thank god for that option)..."I cant hear you love" After more pulling of the boot handle and pushing the button I ping the window down and ask what is the problem? "I cant get the boot open" I open the drivers door and imediatly the boot button then unlocks the boot. This isnt the first time this has happened but is a pain in this kind of situation. Is there some kind of interlock or something that stops people opening you boot say when sat in traffic or something? Quote
wozza Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 You have the autolocking feature turned on go over 6 mph and it locks all the doors you can tell by the flashing light above the door lock button on the dash its been turned on to turn it off just press it and keep holding it but its good as a safety thing. Welshguy Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Not sure about an interlock...but the boot lock is a known problem for the C4. Mine stuck occasionally and had to be replaced. To test this...next time it fails to unlock put some pressure down on the boot and try again...if it unlocks you know what the problem is! Will be replaced F.O.C at your dealership if this is the case. Quote

Auto Locking is not activated I tried it and got fed up with it.... OK will try that Welsh cheers....just seemed odd that it "unlocks/works" when the drivers door is opened. Quote
wozza Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Thats why i said auto locking if you open the drivers door it would have turned the locks off. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 But the car isnt locked....the locks dont go "insert locking car door noise here" when I drive the car above 6mph. When I tried the auto lock feature there is a definate locking of car doors sound...... Quote
wozza Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 yeah i know you said its not but just why i got the idea is all i meant should have worded it better. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 yeah i know you said its not but just why i got the idea is all i meant should have worded it better. I see what you mean now..... Engrish was never my strong point either Wozza so shouldnt worry about it  Quote
wozza Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 English is not a problem for me lol. Although i didnt get a grade for it at A level due to me being thrown off the course a few weeks before the end due to me missing a deadline on my work but i had more important things to think about then. Still got into uni so does not matter lol. But still seems odd it opened fine when you opened your door. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I have found that the car will lock itself if i have not got it, but because you were in the car that cant be the case. I sometimes have trouble with the boot, i found that if you pull it and it does not open, i just leave it for a sec, then open it, rather than tugging it endlessly! :P Quote
Rich_Eason Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 yeah try telling that to SWMBOID, I have countlessly told her that there is a button to press. Yes if you unlock the car and dont open any doors it will relock itself thats quite a common feature on most modern cars..... Quote
xavtia Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I've just had problems opening the boot on the courtesy car, doesnt happen with my own car, just lent on the boot a little and it opened. Wouldnt be citroen if they didn't have quirkly little faults -_- Quote
Stuey Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 mines fine opening...closing without smashing the glass however can be a fun and exciting game -_- Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I find the boot struts are very weak in the fact that you hardly have to push down the boot to close it! (which is a good thing). One time i puched down the boot, obviously not hard enough, and it balanced between open and closed, so alla Jeremy Clarkson in top gear with aluminium jag, i managed to blow the boot closed! :D  Luckily no one was looking! :D :D I only do those things in the privacy of my own home! :P Quote
