Welshguy Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Grrr... Driving to work this morning only to stop behind a white transit as it looked like he couldn't figure out what turning to take in the road...turns out he'd gone past the turning he wanted so he thought he'd reverse...without looking. Result? New Bonnet and Front Bumper required for me. <_< Quote
wozza Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Thats sucks dude next time though blast the horn when he starts. What it is there for to alert people to your presence. Also good stress relief lol. Then again so is getting out and having his face meet your knuckles.... Quote
Welshguy Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 lol yeah. Had no inkling he was going to reverse though. For a split second I thought "yeah he's definately gonna stop"...followed by "***oops*** he aint gonna stop!!" and I tried to throw it into reverse quick time..too late though..and he hit me. Just finished a letter to his company asking what they are going to do about it. I was in the right so I'm definately not paying anything - and my excess is four figures <_< Quote
Stuey Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I said it to Ciaran and now I am saying it to you...pictures man PICTURES!! seriously though mate that is a big steaming pile of turd!! why dont all vans come with reverse parking sensors as a standard item?? you can see bugger all out of them... C4VTRhdi Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Sorry to hear that. I had a similar problem when a forklift reversed into my old car , dont ask lol So you have my sympathy. Quote
Welshguy Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 @ Stuey Lol Stuey do you lust over pix of damaged motors? Will get some sorted asap - took some earlier for my letter to the other guy's company but they were polaroid ones. Yeah Parking sensors should be standard. So should common sense to look in your mirrors <_< Quote
wozza Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Well you need to see pictures of damaged cars lol. Did the guy admit it was his fault when you got out? And is there any CCTV cameras near by if so get onto the company thats got them and get the proof you need to make sure he doesnt try and screw you over. Quote

It must be something to do with that I grew up in garages/scrap yards and now have nothing to do with the oily bits on cars... mirrors wopuld be a good idea too :P Quote

Power cord:behind the desk. miraiad of av cables, usb cables, external hard drives:in a huge tangle :P I will use the family desktop in a minute and put up the pics. Quote
hertsnminds Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Shame you don't have any witnesses as it could be claimed you drove into the back of him. They only way to physically disprove this would be if his reversing light got smashed in the impact as analysis can show if the light was on or off at the time it broke. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
Mat Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 They only way to physically disprove this would be if his reversing light got smashed in the impact as analysis can show if the light was on or off at the time it broke. The height of the damage would be different too. If Welshguy drove into the back of the van the front of Welshguy's car would be lower, assuming of course he would be breaking. Quote
Stuey Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I was following white van man this morning down the country roads on the way to work, I thought he would be dawdling but I was struggling to keep up!! Hats off to him!! Quote
Welshguy Posted August 25, 2006 Author Posted August 25, 2006 Yeah I hope he doesn't want to play silly games, but I should be able to prove he reversed into me - the fact that my turning into my work place was 5 meters away means I wouldn't have been speeding (quite the opposite!), and the road is unobstructed so I would have seen him a mile off. The company concerned should have received my letter this morning - I am now waiting for a reply... Quote
barns Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Thats sucks dude next time though blast the horn when he starts. What it is there for to alert people to your presence. easier said than done horn is in a pretty poor position when you need to hit it , i always hit air bag instead........................ Quote
Welshguy Posted August 29, 2006 Author Posted August 29, 2006 Yeah and a horn only alerts the other driver...I attempted to get reverse gear quick-time...I'd prefer to be in control of my destiny! Quick update : Have had a phone call and the company have accepted liability - just waiting for paperwork to confirm this. Quote
wozza Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Result then shouldnt take too long for them to sort it for you. And when the bodyshop repairs it see if they can source the other front bumper with the little splitter bit built in instead of the current one you have mate will make the front end look a bit nicer and well they might be able to do it for you since its an insurance job. Should ask them about anything else that you want doing as well know a few people that got freebies thrown in as such from accidents. Quote
Welshguy Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 Indeed :D Spoke to the other parties insurance company yesterday - they offered me a repair in a "Lex" bodyshop...not sure if you've heard of the brand but I think they used to be Rover specialists. No ta! Told them I would like to go down my own path...and I was told I need the standard 2 quotes. 1 is going to come (hopefully) from a very good bodyshop I know, and the other from Davies Motor Company in Cardiff - they are Bentley approved  :D :P Quote
fuelguage Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I have the answer. With the white van expanding and getting faster us C4 owners who value our vehicles shoud fit CRASH BARS to the front and rear of our vehicles!! :D :P :D :D :o Quote
Welshguy Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 Does anybody here know where I can get Citroen parts prices? I have found a C4 front bumper and bonnet on ebay and would like to compare the costs - might be able to save some money on the repair which could be spent elsewhere... Quote
Stuey Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 just ring the parts dept at the dealership...the website is rubbish Quote
Welshguy Posted September 5, 2006 Author Posted September 5, 2006 According to the dealership (Bridgend) £220 for a Bonnet£200 (ish - apparently - lol!) for a Front Bumper. I've been to get some quotes for the repair work now...should be booking it into a cracking bodyshop in Cardiff - they fitted a bodykit to my brother's old clio and the workmanship was better than first class. I have a company on my behalf chasing up the claim (this is all new to me but I'm being helped along!) and they sort a cortesy car out, and charge the other parties insurance company for that (wondered how they made money out of this!). Apparently they sort good motors out as well...I've heard of a case where somebody who owned an old Beemer got a Merc Compressor ! :o Quote
Stuey Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I got a pug 307  no justice, thats the problem Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 My BM went in and I got an Evo FQ320  Quote
