lab44 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Hi Anyone had a go at changing their headlamp bulbs in the C4 (non Xenon). Was thinking of fitting some brighter ones - been told its possible - anyone done this? Quote
wozza Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Not tried it but would be interested to know how its done so i can get rid of the orange indicator bulbs and get some silver ones as a replacement. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 When i was in the dealer the other day, they had some brighter head lights for not too much money, sure they could tell you how to fit them.Does it not say in the manual?!? :P Quote
C4VTS Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Does it not say in the manual?!? Page 120 - 126 :P Quote
wozza Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Pft the manual is in the car it involves going out to the car and looking at it im far too hung over to be arsed with that. Quote

wozza Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 No its not been sick all morning not nice! But may have to have a look at changing my bulbs in future to something better and also getting rid of my orange indicators. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 No its not been sick all morning not nice! But whose fault was that! :P Bet you had a nice night though :D But may have to have a look at changing my bulbs in future to something better and also getting rid of my orange indicators. How would someone going about doing that?!? Is that a "Standard" "One fits all" clear bulb? :P or a special part?!? Quote
powza Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 "But may have to have a look at changing my bulbs in future to something better and also getting rid of my orange indicators." Can you have indicators other colours than orange? Are they street legal?Never seen anything except orange I don't think! :P Quote
Stuey Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 they still flash orange, they are just silver fronted... Quote
wozza Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Gets rid of the egg yolk effect just looks tidier but the C4 front indicators are a little strange in that you need 2 sets of bulbs since theres 2 indicator bulbs in the front headlights on each side. Quote
lab44 Posted August 26, 2006 Author Posted August 26, 2006 Just had a look - it is possible to change the bulbs without too much effort though are stuck in quite some way back so might take a bit of fiddling. Its just the standard bulbs dont seem very bright and seems to be a few companies selling "brighter" headlamp bulbs. Just gotta have a look what to go for. They dont seem too expensive (around £20 for two) If anyone else has tried would be interested to know the results Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 I am pretty sure that the citroen ones were cheaper than that, and claimed to be 25% brighter than standard bulbs. But that could be utter bullshit, i didnt really take much intrest in them, just wanted to get out of the Crawley Citroen asap!!!! :P Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 I had a sidelight bulb replaced at a dealer as I was told that you cannot replace the bulbs without removing the bumper. Brighter bulbs are all well and good until you encounter someone else who has had the same clever idea and changed theirs too, they are dazzling and painful to look at. For the sake of those people like myself who do loads of miles, keep the standard bulbs and don't drive with your fogs on. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 I dont like halogen lights as they distract my eyes (best explanation i could come up with :P ), because they seem to change colour as height is changed.I thought that the brighter bulbs were different?!? :D I HATE it when people drive with there fogs on!!! :P My display picture was a photography exercise and no insight to my lighting whilst driving!!!!(we discussed this in an older thread! )i think i may have to put a disclamer on my sig! :D :P Quote
Mike5483 Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Im also not really impressed with the standard lamps. I have just bought a full set of front lamps, Dipped Beam, Full Beam and Indicator lamps. I will takesome piccies before and after fitment to see if it makes a difference. I will also take some piccies of fitting, if I find its difficult. Ive had a look though and it looks quite simple really. Anyway, they should hopefully turn up within the next week. Quote
lab44 Posted August 27, 2006 Author Posted August 27, 2006 I don't like halogen or bright bulbs - fed up with being blinded by them on dark country roads. But then again seeing as everyone else has them and I'm blinded anyway the only option is to get some brigher headlights myself. Quote
Mike5483 Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 I dont find that halogens affect me that much. Obviously fogs and the ones who drive around on full beam blind me, but halogens on a dipped beam are fine. Quote
wozza Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 I just flash my fogs at people that have them turned on if enough people start doing it im sure they will turn them off. Most of my mates do the same thing quite funny when few of us are convoying somewhere and we see someone with fogs they get about 8 - 10 flashes from various cars. Quote
