jaz123 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 hi iv just brought a zx 1.9 td with low miles, upgrade from my old normal zx diesel, the performance is great with lots of power. however there is a cheap engine mod (about £150) that increases the boost of the turbo with a few ajustments to the injectors, the company claims extra 30bhp and 40pounds of torque? with no damage caused to the engine long term, sounds impressive? has anybody had this done if so is it worth doing? will i see a big drop in mpg? pork_pie Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 92bhp - 144 lb ft to be converted to 122bhp and 188lb/ft? That is very impressive for an indirect injection diesel of that engine capacity. In its heyday - you'd need at least a 2.5l TD engine to get near them figures. Now you can get 1.6 litre diesels outputting such date. In most cases a converted engine should make for a more driveable car and therefore improves MPG of between 5-10 percent. Engines are strong enough to withstand a bhp upgrade such as this. Quote
spanners Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 hi lads any ideas how to check if the turbo works my car is under powered wont pulled in 2nd 3rd just slowly picks up but drives fine even on the motor way ? thanks Quote
