marcgti6 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Hello this is my first post. I signed up because me and a few mates are thinking of reliving the good ol' days of AX ownership. We are interested in making a AX track beast. Fully stripped to be as light as possible with coil overs the most powerful engine we can fit in it (hopefully). Has anyone had any experience with engine conversions in AX's? I've tried searching on the Internet but the only converted AX I have found is a VTR engine but these don't really offer any power gains over the AX GTi lump. What would be the possibility of cramming a Xantia 2ltr Turbo (150bhp) lump in a AX? Would this be physically possible and would you be able to use the Xantia's box? Or how about a Saxo VTS lump? Also what sort of weight would you be looking at for a stripped out AX? Thanks for the help! Quote
wozza Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Theres a couple been done with VTS / GTI lumps good thing about the 1.6 lump is its quite tunable. Best off asking at the ax owners club about things like this sure they will be able to help you out a bit more. http://www.axownersclub.com/ Weight wise the AX is lighter than the saxo so the 1.6 VTS lump will make it rather quick on its own. But as said the engine is quite tuneable not too difficult to get 150bhp+ out of it theres a few on the other side of 200bhp. Quote
