jryan Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Hello, As some might remember i had an issue with my service spanner light always being on even after 2 services in one week by citroen glasgow and 4 other trips to get a so called download that had no effect! Well i had enough and have haggled a deal for a 55 plate 8k miles 1.6hdi vtr+ coupe! only an extra £15 per month and its a higher spec! Quote
wozza Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Nice one mate, How you finding the VTR+ then? Finding the extra gadgets are worth the extra cost? Quote
C4VTRhdi Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Sounds like a good deal the diesel engine especially the 110hdi is far superior to the 1.6 petrol, all that torque plus great economy. Im sure youll have more fun especially when that turbo kicks in ;-) Quote
jryan Posted September 20, 2006 Author Posted September 20, 2006 Hi, I think it is grest!! When i picked it up it had half a tank and showed 365 miles till empty!!!!! woo hoo!!! I do have one snag tho, the windscreen washers dont work they need to order a new pump! lol i must be just unlucky! lol Quote

Im sure youll have more fun especially when that turbo kicks in ;-) Not really superior except on motorway and accelerating otherwise it handles worse, its slower, and all that extra money for 15mpg extra on the motorway and more frequent services which cost more. Just depends what your doing low mileage drivers diesel is kind of a waste of money. Quote
bill03 Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Diesel, superior in every respect for "normal" driving... Quote
incubus Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Jryan....Just remember that the folk that think Diesel cars are a false economy are usually just dead jelous that they aint gettin 52mpg round town and over 60mpg on the Motorway....  It Pisses em off big styleeee...  .... The HDI rules and petrol Drools...... ... I'm off before i get hate mail..... :P .. Quote
wozza Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Nah dont give a damn about MPG lol. If i did I would not be looking to import a V8 Mustang lol. Well actually im importing a few so i can sell some and make some money on them. £28k for a GT500 when there selling here for £44k seems like a good way for me to make some money. Quote
trypodz Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Try getting 28MPG driving in sensible mode......... do I care not a chance I accept it along with everything else that comes with the car .....especially the 180BHP Drive a smoker....no way Quote

Any pictures...... :P ... Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I have always owned petrol cars but my C4 company car is a diesel and certainly on the motorway is far superior to the petrol equivalent. Fortunately I have a weekend car, albeit not a V8. Although it is now up for sale if anyone is interested http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/101911.htm Quote
jryan Posted September 22, 2006 Author Posted September 22, 2006 Ha Ha!! I fixed the washers!!! It was a blown fuse!! Quote

B) But only at weekends of course...Could'nt run it in the week... :) Diesel for the everyday and a V8 for weekends....mmmmmmmm......I like... :D .... Any pictures...... ... It depends im going to order a few Shelby GT500's and sell a few back here. Then im thinking about getting myself either an ordinary GT and then upgrading it myself or the GT500 for mysel. Odinary GT is winning due to the supercharger config it gives lots of low end power but i'd prefer more power up the rev range. Hence the GT with the charger i want would be perfect. And also capable of 29mpg around town apparently. Already spoken to some guys who own them around my area 29mpg around town in machester for a 450+bhp stang is not bad its easily daily driven wit that consumption. If i can make a decent profit on them checking around new GT500's seem to go for around £44,000 base price. However i can get them back here and road legal ready to drive for £28,000k im sure dealer would pay nearly £40k alone never mind private buyers. Im not the only person to think of thing though seems theres a few on the mustang forums thinking the same thing. Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 I seriously doubt you'd get 29mpg, I have never seen anything near 29mpg from my BMW. 40k for a left hooker Mustang, you gotta be kidding me, are there that many mugs out there who want to spend that sort of money on a pretty poor car? Quote
Stuey Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 have a look on autotrader...there are loads for sale for that price. If Wozza gets them converted to RHD and markets them for £40K he should shift em pretty quickly, obviously not as much profit but they will sell and if you get a rapport with a local garage you should be able to get the RHD conversions done quite cheaply... Well its 24mpg on the computer which when you take into account american gallon is smaller its 28 - 29mpg. Im only saying what a fair few of the owners of new stangs have noticed. The older ones are a bit different obviously and get naff MPG. And £40k for a 500bhp 5.4litre Supercharged V8 same engine as in the Ford GT isnt exactly a lot of money mate. How many other 500bhp cars can you pick up for that brand new? Considering an M3 isnt that cheap and is only as fast as the normal GT not many. And because thyere rare cars here they hold there money more. Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Engine is ok, its the rest of the car which is the problem. Typical boring unimaginative American styling with handling and interior to match. Quote
wozza Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Thats your view. Thats how i feel about BMWs, Merc's, VW's, Porsches etc. Whos cars are nearly all boring to look at. Personally I like the retro style muscle look. And also the handling maybe before commenting on that bit you should go and drive one as it is different from the normal stang :/ Thats like me saying a 318 will handle the same as a M3 CSl. Its just bullshit. There very different. Same with the Shelby gt500. To me they look rather good though. http://www.rsportscars.com/foto/02/shelbygt50007_05.jpg Interior isnt exactly flash but theres os many upgrade packs for it you can get in the factory and i have not yet seen one with the upgrade packs in pictures such as the carbon fibre inserts and brushed aluminium dash etc yet. Only pic i could find was this one. http://www.moddedmustangs.com/articles/images/gt500-interior.jpg Quote
welshys90 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 i think the gt500 looks pretty sweet tho if we know u buy them for 28k we would want a bit of a discount if we were 2 buy one, plus i must admit i would rather have a GT500 than a BMW, Porsche, Merc because ive only ever seen one in scotland and that was an old style mustang, american muscle cars are very rare over here Quote
