John.A.S. Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Hi all,On returning from St Ives to Preston car broke down on M5 at Bristol. RAC diagnosed "injection circuit malfunction cylinder 2. code P0202" They gave us a car to get us home and my car will be delivered on Monday. The engine was miss firing. The RAC chap also connected a node to the end of the connector wiring that feeds the injector, It flashed once brightly and then about three time more dimly, then nothing. He said sometimes that happens because the ECU shuts down the circuit. The same thing happened to me about 12 months ago, same cylinder same code, I tided up the wiring at the rear of the cylinder head and the problem was gone until last Friday that is. Anyone know using a meter what values I should get across the injector and across the wiring feeding the connector.I believe the wiring goes back to the PCM how do I identify it (were is it) and what are the pin connections etc. I am hoping its a wiring problem, any help with tracing it would be appreciated. Thanks John. Quote
mohanlal Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) I have the same P0202 error code with my Citroen C5. I bought an OBD2 reader from ebay which can erase this error code and make the engine service light go away. The car then works fine but unfortunately P0202 keeps coming back after a few days. One thing you could try is buying injector cleaner. The cheapest one branded STP costs about £2 from Halfords. If that doesn't work you may need to change the injector - I was quoted about £150 for a garage to do this. I know how to change the injectors but does anyone know how the injectors are numbered? P0202 must be for the second injector but do you count the injectors from left to right as 1 to 4 (as you look at the engine standing from the front)? If so, P0202 would be the second injector from the left as you look at the engine standing from the front. Please could someone confirm this. Edited June 13, 2015 by mohanlal Quote
John.A.S. Posted June 13, 2015 Author Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) Hi, I think they number from the gearbox end but not sure will check the Haynes manual when I can find it. I was told be the RAC I needed a new injector as in my original post, so did the dealership. But the injector specialist said they work or they don't. full stop. I did change the injector but it did not cure the fault. I had they injector I removed test and they said the injector was testing as new. (82000 miles) The injector people said it will be the connector at the injector they are always causing problems. I got home all running OK lifted the bonnet and moved the connector wiring about where the wires enter they connector immediately the engine started to misfire and the dash said depollution fault and 0202 appeared once again. I cut the wires at the connector and put some small spade end connectors on the two wires (make sure you get them the right way round)and connected the wires to the injector terminals the problem was gone. I bought a new connector £6 and fitted it. You might have to make up some short tails as there is not much slack on the wires.I ended up changing all four connector. John.
