gosso1 Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Just some info My Berlingo Hdi (2 years old this month and 28000miles on clock) has made a rather ominous noise. Took it to my Citroen dealer on Thursday adn only received a phone call to tell me that it sounds like a diff problem(Monday 25Sep) I was also informed it would be another week before they could strip it down and then an assesor would come and see if the cause of the problem was reckless driving or product malfunction (reckless driving = wheel spinning) If he decides its reckless driving, the warranty will not cover the work and I will have to shell out £3000 to repair it. I have also been told that it would be 3-5 weeks till i get my car back, that is if the warranty covers it otherwise its gonna be a lenghty legal battle. I was also informed that an internal memorandum has been passed along to inform them about this. Now the Berlingo is hardly a boy racers dream and Im a 35 year old man, how reckless could I be in a 96bhp diesel van? And Im stuck without a curtousy car as they dont have one for long term, only daily use. Great service, I dont think so mad.gif I will keep you updted to when i get more info....... Quote
citroeneddie Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Gosso1 Sorry to hear about the problem. As I am in no way a mechanic, can you explain exactly what the problem is, and why it will cost £3.0k to fix? Did you get a breakdown of such a quote? Quote
gosso1 Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 it seems the diff/gearbox is in need of a rebuild! Thats all I have been told till now and that was the estimate I got from the dealer :D Quote
gosso1 Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 Its now been 12 days and still they have not openend the drivetrain to find the fault. I have now ben informed that because I have replaced the standard wheels with alloys and lower profile tyres it coul be the reason for diff failure as it changes the angle of the diff. the tyres I have fitted are slightly lower profile but pretty much the same width. It seems they will try everything to get out of a warranty! next installment on Thursday when they would have opened the drivetrain Quote
iannez Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 i have done loads of these. strip car and make a list of parts. vor parts. they land at garage 4am following morning. start work at 8.30am. built up and ready to go out for 12pm. unless parts are on back order cant see what the problem is. we have in the past had cars that have been abused and not coverd these under warrenty but they were the likes of saxo and c2 vtr's driven by young lads with majour signs of abuse (cv boots twisted on drive shafts and bald front tyres with very little miles) so cant see why your having warrenty probs. i would try another garage if i were you m8. good luck any way.
