I am just trying to understand whether there are different turbos on models of the car; reading the Haynes manual, they seem to list 3 variants:

 

XUD9TF - turbo

 

XUD9SD - light pressure turbo

 

XUD9 BTF - turbo for catalyst 

 

 

Not knowing how the variants were marketed back in the day, I wonder why & what the difference is between TF and SD types? (I guess the BTF came along a bit later, when catylsts became mandatory).

 

Q. If I had the SD type, could I fit TF, in order to get a performance boost? If so, is it a simple spanner job?
