dave&trace Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Have you seen the scott yellow VTS on ebay? Quote
Mat Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 There are a lot of cars for sale. Not seen the Classified ads before Quote
C4VTS Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 There has been a lot of fraudulent sellers on eBay this weekend as well!! Someone has hijacked lots of eBay accounts and having 1-day auctions selling cars that are too cheap to be true, so be very careful ! My sister was looking at a Triumph TR4 that was a very good price, but luckily she asked for my advice after she had been emailing the seller. After doing some Google searches, I found out that fraud was rife on eBay !!!!Told her to forget about the car, and an hour later the auction was removed !! Auctions with phone numbers or email adresses in the advert are very likely to be fraudsters. Alarm bells should start ringing when they mention square deal. Check this site for what to look for http://www.carbuyingtips.com/fraud.htm Check this out too :- http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?thr...d=1158774757328 That yellow C4 looks like a SCAM for at least one of the reasons I mentioned above. The phone number in the advert and a very short auction!! Also it says post to Worldwide ! All the SCAMS have offered free overseas delivery!! Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 That VTS was on ebay last week, with a low starting bid. I seem to recall the description was slightly longer before. The best test is to put it in your watch list and if it is still there tomorrow it is probably legit. If anyone has any sense they will want to see the car before bidding and paying. Saying that my car has over 6 grands worth of bids on it and had no one come to view yet. Quote
C4VTS Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 This one is definitely a fraud ! See the REAL EBAY ID OWNERS QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2004-BMW-M3-CSL-GREY...1QQcmdZViewItem Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 You'd have to be a complete pillock to think that was genuine. They are nearly all asking for pre approval before allowing your bid and the old chestnut of "my email isn't working, so use this one instead." They didn't check the photos too well as the first interior shot is an Audi! Spotting a pattern with the auction format, looks like the same scammer is at it again... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2006-MINI-COOPER-Mot...1QQcmdZViewItem Quote
C4VTS Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 The interior of that M3 is an Audi TT  Well spotted :o The Mini is the same person with a different yahoo email. and it must be a new model "2006 MINI COOPER! Motorola V3!" So I presume he also has an auction for a V3 phone somewhere ? Found another two !http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2005-MERCEDES-CLS-50...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2004-Mercedes-Benz-E...1QQcmdZViewItem Quote
C4VTS Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 That VTS was on ebay last week, with a low starting bid. I seem to recall the description was slightly longer before. Saying that my car has over 6 grands worth of bids on it and had no one come to view yet. I sent question to seller on the VTS how much he/she wanted for it. Got a reply today saying about £10K. So probably is a genuine sale Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 They'll be lucky to get 10k for it. Looks nice in yellow, never seen one on the road. Quote
C4VTS Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 They'll be lucky to get 10k for it. Looks nice in yellow, never seen one on the road. He did say that I could make him an offer. Obviously I don't want to buy the car as I have a VTS  It looks lower on the springs than my HDi version so wonder if it has been lowered? Quote
wozza Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Just put my 2nd car up on the loot for sale. Its been up there a few hours and already I have a bunch of emails from scammers trying to purchase it. Not 1 of them can speak proper english. They all want to give me checks they all want pictures and information which was included in the online advert. I added pictures to it lol. Quote
Stuey Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 at 10K that is a bargain!! half tempted myself and then bang it on Autotrader and make a quick couple of grand... Quote
wozza Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Not sure on that mate seen others that would not sell for £10k. But hey you wanted a scott yellow VTS lol. Quote
Stuey Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I looked on Autotrader this morning and there are no Yellow ones for sale in the country...I reckon there are only a handfull around. So Dave&Trace the offer still stands!! I would like first refusal on yours  Quote
wozza Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Not many VTS's around and since scott yellow is exclusive to the VTS bound to be even less of them around. Most people dont want a yellow car lol. Although my other car is bright yellow and i love it. Quote
Stuey Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I have only ever seen one yellow VTS and that is Dave's. I keep seeing black ones, one at sainsbury's at lunch time has had an incredibly hard hit to the rear. bumper was missing flat glass panel and taillights where broken and it looked like the lower part had "curled" up. Must have happened this morning as it wasnt roadworthy. I was half tempted to leave my mobile number and see if he wouls sell me his wheels  Quote
wozza Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 The saying "Adding insult to injury" comes to mind there. But hey might have got some wheels out of it lol. Quote
dave&trace Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 This is the first one we have seen in yellow but it`s not got all the toys would be nice to see one fully loaded VTS 180 will probably be a harder car to sell with group 15 insurance only old fossils can get insurance like us.sorry stuey not for sale yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!but we will look after it for you and i promise to wash it at least once a week. Quote
wozza Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Bloody hell i just got myself an insurance quote on a VTS for my 2yeras NCB and living back with my parents  I can afford one now. For me living in manchester on driveway etc....£1256 Thats not bad for my age and only 2yrs ncb and living in Manchester postcode. Its not much more than my insurance would be on the 1.6. Just a couple months ago I had the quote saved on my confused.com thing and lowest i had was £3148. Just dont it again adding another yr NCB and i got that quote of £1200. Might have to look into a VTS in 12 months or so now. well less. Quote
