Hi all

I have a 2005 2.0hdi C5 estate with just under 21,000 miles on the

clock purchased new in April 2005.

Whilst in France in July, the above message came up. I put it down to

the heat and dust in the car park where the car was (outside temp

reading 45degrees C!). Car was taken to a Citroen dealer, who plugged

in their computer, and 30 seconds later declared it was a computer

fault, and it was safe to go on. Had no further problems.

Yesterday, I noticed a slight 'hesitation' under acceleration, and

whist cruising. Today, this was a lot more noticable, and 5 minutes

into my trip, the same message appeared, along with the 'hiccup'

getting worse (car didn't go into limp home mode, should it?). Went

to my local dealer who can't do anything until monday morning as no

service department on a sunday (I guess cars don't break down on

Sundays!).

My question is: Does anyone know what causes this problem (don't want

to get fobbed off by my dealer)? I looked at some earlier posts that

mention a valve, but there isn't much detail. Can anyone help?

Unfortunately I know have to 'camp-out' in the front of my dealer at

7:30am tomorrow so that I can be seen straight away :(

Any help appreciated

Quick update.

Dealer said this was a 'sticky' EGR valve. It was cured by a full ECU software update. Don't quite know how a software update would solve a 'sticky' valve (perhaps WD40, or a hammer!), but as I know very little about engines I can't comment.

Car runs OK so shouldn't worry too much about it.
