Carlos Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Hi all I have a 2005 2.0hdi C5 estate with just under 21,000 miles on theclock purchased new in April 2005. Whilst in France in July, the above message came up. I put it down tothe heat and dust in the car park where the car was (outside tempreading 45degrees C!). Car was taken to a Citroen dealer, who pluggedin their computer, and 30 seconds later declared it was a computerfault, and it was safe to go on. Had no further problems. Yesterday, I noticed a slight 'hesitation' under acceleration, andwhist cruising. Today, this was a lot more noticable, and 5 minutesinto my trip, the same message appeared, along with the 'hiccup'getting worse (car didn't go into limp home mode, should it?). Wentto my local dealer who can't do anything until monday morning as noservice department on a sunday (I guess cars don't break down onSundays!). My question is: Does anyone know what causes this problem (don't wantto get fobbed off by my dealer)? I looked at some earlier posts thatmention a valve, but there isn't much detail. Can anyone help?Unfortunately I know have to 'camp-out' in the front of my dealer at7:30am tomorrow so that I can be seen straight away :( Any help appreciated Carl Quote
Carlos Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 Quick update. Dealer said this was a 'sticky' EGR valve. It was cured by a full ECU software update. Don't quite know how a software update would solve a 'sticky' valve (perhaps WD40, or a hammer!), but as I know very little about engines I can't comment. Car runs OK so shouldn't worry too much about it. Carl Quote
