Mike_UK Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Hi Everyone, I took delivery on Friday of my first ever Citroen, Silver 1.6 VTR Pack. I must say I'm really impressed with it. Paid just over 10k for her after all the discounts and the dealer even installed a Bear-Lock (for the gearbox) and threw in some free mats. I'm currently living in Poland and the roads here are worse than any back road you can dream of finding in the UK. I will certainly be able to update you on how she handles in snow and I mean real snow... :P This model (features sheet) states the CD player should support MP3 but mine don't so I'm going back to the dealer to sort that out. One TO$$ER ran down the side of the car while it was parked last night and now the door seal just behind the front passengers wheel has a bit of a dent in it. Does anyone have an idea of how expensive (in the UK or Europe) this will be to fix? Cheers everyone... P.S. just noticed I typed VTS in the header, clearly wishful thinking on my part... :( Quote
wozza Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Welcome to the forum mate. I had this scratch http://mybigspoon.com/wozza/scratch.JPG And also my side strips and a and b pillar trims painted and it came to £350 total. Which is not too bad really. Think ciaran one of the other owners who has a massive dent in the rear of is car after someone kicked it was quote around the same price. Also edited topic for you :-P Quote
Mike_UK Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 Cheers for the quick response Wozza and cheers for editing the topic. The dent on mine is actually on the door seal just under the side strips. No scratches at all on the door panel or front wing. will take a pic and post it later. 350 isn't so bad, not sure what it'll do to my insurance as I'm paying a fair bit already. thanks for the welcome too... :( Quote
wozza Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I didnt go through my insurance worked out costing me more. Losing my NCB and also £175 excess. Was worth the £350 out of my pocket 2yrs ncb is worth far more than £175. Cant see in that scratch but part of the door seal was bent as well its perfect now they sorted it out in the price as well as the scratch etc. Quote
Mike_UK Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 Ok, so here we have three close ups courtesy of my phonecam. Looks worse to me now :( http://aycu35.webshots.com/image/4434/2003996597818119311_rs.jpg http://aycu35.webshots.com/image/4434/2003955391618878708_rs.jpg http://aycu32.webshots.com/image/3471/2003904531884099220_rs.jpg Quote
Stuey Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Welcome aboard Mike!! I have a VTR too, I am sure you will fall in love with it very quickly!! Quote
wozza Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Yeah just he has the 17's on his stuey :-P But looking at that should not be too difficult to repair it mate probably similar or a bit less than what I paid to have mine done. So around £280 - £300 I just took mine as an excuse to get sidestrips and pillars done as well lol. I was putting it off until that point. Quote
Stuey Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Yeah just he has the 17's on his stuey :-P leave it... i'm broke now that I am paying insurance again...after Christmas though they will be oh yes they will be mine! Quote
Mike_UK Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 Cheers Stuey, I was sceptical going for the citroen what with their reliability record in the past. My previous two cars in the UK were an imported Mitsu FTO GPX and a Lexus IS 200 SE. Build quality on the VTR is impressive so far, nothing falling off although the tray under the passenger seat is a bit of a bugger and feels a bit flimsy, aside from that I'm well impressed. Me and the misus drove to Zakopane, (hightest mountain region in Poland) over the weekend, put 1200km's on the clock already :( Wozza, thanks for the opinion. Maybe I can get the garage to just do it and I'll pay for it myself. Cheers lads, Mike Quote

Wish i had the cash for multispokes right now would love some supert's Just cant afford it with tyres etc in 18's im looking at nearly £1000 cant justify that kind of money now. Still annoyed with the scrape i have in my alloys. Because of some stupid chav bint forcing her way past me at a stupd speed forcing me to go against the kerb and scratching the rim slightly. Before that i had not hit a damn thing. But hey ho they were never gonna stay perfect for ever. And Mike the C4 is built a fair bit better than the other citroen cars so not really fair to judge against the others get into a C2 or C3 etc and you will see a big different in build quality and feel of materials. and long trips i remember the day i got mine i went to the petrol station filled it up and buggered off the scotland for the weekend came back and booked it in for the first 1000 miles service. Mike_UK Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 I really enjoyed driving the C4 over the weekend. In fact I'm thinking of any opportunity to go for a drive at the moment, even popping out to Tesco's now has it's appeal :( For the record this Bear Lock thingy I was referring to is a gearbox locking mechanism that's stopping a lot of car thefts here in Poland, (and there are a lot!). It consists of a metal rod that you insert into a chamber on the passenger side of the gearbox (gear must be in reverse). Twist the key (one of 3 supplied) and the rod pops out. Has a Rod holder fitted just under the glove box too. Not sure if it's available in the UK yet but it's a professional job and it'll ensure's the car won't be driven away even if someone gets in there. I've added a link if anyone's interested and they do have an english page. http://www.niedzwiedz-lock.pl/enblokada.php Cheers, Mike Quote
Mike5483 Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Welcome Mike. Im Mike to!!! You will have to be called Fred so I dont get confused!!! Anyway, that dent looks nasty. TBH, I reckon that may be cut out and weld in job, cause you cant reshape a sill unless you use filler, and that is a massive area to fill. Anyway, hope you get it sorted. I have a VTR+, which is currently sitting with 25,100 miles on the clock. Its an April 2005 car, thats about 1400 miles per month average!!! It hasnt stood up to it too badly. I have some issues, and my interior is becoming fairly rattly to be honest, doors, seatbelts, rear plastic trim, boot... you name it, its rattling at the moment!!! Think it might be the cold weather, everything is shrinking (to which I can relate!!!) Anyway, I still enjoy the car, and I hope you enjoy yours. Any questions, just ask. PS, I too have a dent in my passenger door and sill. Seems to be a fairly common thing for C4's!!! Quote
Mike_UK Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 Thanks Ham 'n' Fred  I hope it's not a cut and weld job!!! Is this the record for the worst bang within 5 days of receiving a shiney new C4? I really hope the shrinkage is not caused by the cold weather, I experienced -35C in Feb of this year, hate to think what it'd do... Quote

ARGGGGH!!!!!!! Welcome :P ......Nice to have you onboard :D , it will be interesting to see how a C4 copes in that environment! :o Quote
