Stueyboy Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 This makes me sound really stupid, but the pollution warning light came on in my VTR+ the other day. Its the 1.6 diesel 110bhp. They said it could have been caused by the turbo or turbo connection rods. I had no idea this car had a turbo fitted. Can someone just confirm that for me please.....Can't believe I don't know something this basic d'ho...... Quote
sammys hdi vts Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 yep its a turbo diesel, if it wasnt you would have somewhere in the region on half the horsepower. Just dumps extra air into the engine to aid combustion. Most modern diesels do. As to the problem I cant help. Quote
wozza Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Yep only a small turbo which is why they spool up so quickly but as said nearly every new diesel has a turbo. Otherwise your 1.6 diesel would be struggling to keep up with 1 litre cars. Quote
elrey123 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 The pollution warning light could be caused by: Lack of Eolys additiveDodgy EGR valveParticulate filter problem There's probably more poss causes, but those are the ones that spring to mind. I don't see why a turbo fault would register a pollution warning. If it was a turbo fault, you'd notice a problem when you drive, ie: lack of power or eneven power delivery. Quote
jonfish Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Mmm. Interesting. My 1.6 110 HDi (15 months old) also did this on the way to the airport (stress I don't need) last week. I stopped briefly, the log said pollution reduction system fault or something similar and the same thing happened on restarting the engine. There was no effect on driving characteristics. Car parked up for nearly a week, and on the way home yesterday ~ 35 miles mostly M way and some hills, nothing at all. Wondering whether to bother gonig to dealer or not. Will if it happens again I think. (saw 2 C4's in French France with panoramic glass roof option one silver hatch the other scott yellow coupe which looked particularly good although the Provence setting did help.) Quote
