lab44 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Anyone know what the recommended oil type is for a Citroen C4 VTR 1.6 petrol. The Castrol website recommends 10W-40 but i am sure the Citroen garage when i asked said something like 5W-30 but i cant remember now Quote
C4VTS Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Check your Maintenance Guide for the correct oil type. See this thread on oil. Quote
lab44 Posted October 5, 2006 Author Posted October 5, 2006 Found it - was looking in the wrong book - Thanks :D Quote
Rich_Eason Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Just to be aware to all the 2.0 VTS Petrol owners that there is an erratum issued within the C4 Manual, loose bit of paper that always falls out of the book. Basically it says that the oil stated in the user handbook is wrong and that the correct grade of oil is the one on the loose piece of paper :D Handy that especially if the dealer has a.lost the loose piece of paper, or b. it didnt come with the car from the previous owner. Now what grade of oil it recommends or actually says.....I cant remember! Quote
dave&trace Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 in our handbook it states 5w 40 or 10w 30 but we have a new handbook 05 edtion and it states 5w 40 which handbook have you got? Quote
lab44 Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 The handbook is confusing - says you can put in 10/40, 5/40 or 5/30 for the standard petrols. Was told by garage would be fine on any so chose the 5/30 seeing as its coming up to winter. Quote
moggy Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Check your Maintenance Guide for the correct oil type. See this thread on oil for the diesel 1.6. if thats with referance to my car, mines a petrol. Quote
