Vee Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Hi Guys, I'm Vee! I'm considering buying a C3 1.6i 16v 2005 model. I can't really figure out from your posts on the forum if this is a good buy! Whut do you guys think about this car? I'm in SA, I don't know if there'll be differences in specs compared to yours, but please give me your opinions! Citroen has only been back in SA for bout 6 years, so the market aint that great yet. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 a manual or a Sensodrive Gearbox? I have a C3 1.6i 16v Exclusive Sensodrive and I like the car. The engine is quite powerfull and its good on fuel. On a long run I have had 150 miles out of a quater of a tank. On short trips around town I average between 30mpg to 35mpg. On long runs I average between 45mpg to 55mpg. The Trip computer showed one time I had 509 miles of fuel remaining in the tank and I don't drive slow. I also get good fuel consumption because I never use the Air Conditioning it drinks your petrol. Quote
raveydavey Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 The sensodrive gearbox is the bit to really consider - some people love it, some don't. The best bet would be to try before you buy. Check the usual things - service record, etc. Personally I reckon that the C3 is fantastic value for money and a great drive, but be aware that in some respects the quality can eb a bit patchy and if you will rely on the air-con be ready to splash the cash on keeping it working (see my post on the technical questions). Certainly here in the UK the dealer quality is patchy too. Quote
stimulator Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I own a C3 SX 1.4HDi 92 BHP diesel. The choice to buy was based purely on the 60+ mpg that is possible from running this car. I commute 21 miles each way to work. I've now owned the car for 2 yeras, covered 20000 miles and have to say that the car is one of the best I've ever owned. Firstly it does return 61.4 mpg on every tank of fuel, sometimes been as high as 65 mpg.Second it's no slouch, good acceleration and I've had 115 mph indicated on the speedo.Third it has auto aircon which works so well that it's set and forgotten about.Fourth it has never gone wrong only been to a garage for a service. Here in UK the annual road tax is £50 yes 50 sheets and my insurance this was £145. All in all the car is great, I liken it to be as much fun to drive as the first VW Golfs were to get all this fun and ecconomy out of a 1.4 is great. Quote
Vee Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 So I bought the car, wow, I just love it! It's the 1.6i SX. Only thing bothering me so far is the seats, being very light in colour, scared it's gona get ugly quickly and it has got a ratlle right above the driver door. But I see I'm not the only one with this problem! But other than that, the car is great! Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 My mates C3 1.4HDi 70BHP Desire is averaging 50mpg and thats town driving as he dosen't go far in it so thats good considering my petrol C3 averages 30 to 35mpg town driving. My mates is a 54 2005 with only 5,000 miles on it Quote
