Nutters Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Hey, I'm new round here so appologise if this is in the wrong area...but i need some help. I've got a brand new C2 1.1i bought in June so on a 65 plate. And ever since a month of having it, it likes to cut out. I can have the clutch full depressed and my foot on the brake waiting in traffic and all of a sudden it would loose power. I took it to the dealer after 6/7 times of this happening and me been sure it wasnt my stupid own fault! They Checked the CPU and took it for a spin and found nothing and told me to find a pattern of when it happens and then come back. Its still been happening and there is no pattern, happens in the sun..rain...heat...everythink, and i was just putting up with it. Untill yesterday when i was sat in grid lock on the outside lane of a duel carrage way with no hold shoulder in chesterfield, when i'd been sat there a couple of min and the revs just dissapeared, i tryed to save it by quickly putting my foot on the acc and my foot remaining fully down on the clutch so i didnt slam into the guy in front, but alas it cut out, and took 2 attempts to re-start and its the first time its doen this. So i was wondering if anyone had any ideas, i commute to mansfied from sheffield (50miles) each day and dont need to hassle of wondering if i'll make it there. Going to ring the dealer and book it in again, but if anyone has any ideas as to what it could be that i can take to them, your help would be very much appreciated. Nutters Quote
hertsnminds Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 From what you have said it sounds like this happens when the car is stopped and the engine is idling. Does the car cut out when in neutral or only when in gear with the clutch down? Do you have climate control or air con and the car cuts out when this kicks in? IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
Nutters Posted October 12, 2006 Author Posted October 12, 2006 It when i have it idiling in Gear, I leave it in gear because you know how traffic is, stop start, and also because i;m sat at lights. I rarely sit idiling in neutral but its yet to do it when i am. I Don't have Climate control or air con, its the design model so just bog standard heating. Quote
hertsnminds Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 told me to find a pattern of when it happens and then come back. Sounds like you just found a pattern...The car stalls when stopped in 1st gear with the clutch down. I would try the following: 1) Move your seat 1 or 2 clicks closer to the steering wheel just so you can give the clutch pedal some extra pressure. 2) Remove any mats from under the pedals, to make sure they are not impeading the clutch pedal movement. 3) Ask the garage to look at the clutch cable and maybe adjust it. IanBlack 55 VTR+ 1) Done, before i first took it in, didnt wanna look a fool after all2) No mats under it3) Will do and when you say stall it dosnt really stall hence why i said die. When you stall you know you;ve stalled because it judders and goes...with this i can sit there and not notice its gone untill i try to move off when just the battery lights on showing my keys in. So it silently goes, only the battery light been on shows its gone, and the fact i canrt move...its def not me stalling it Quote
iannez Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 had to change a few throttle bodies on 1.4s for the same fault but these are electronic. 1.1s are cable but could still be the problem. Quote

Nutters I am also experiencing complete cut outs when driving, last one on Friday when I nearly died as I was in the fast lane at the time. I also have a 56 plate diesel and the dealer has had it in twice without being able to find the fault. There is a sequence that has started to lead up to the cut out. First the radio cuts out for a second then a few minutes later the car judders and a few minutes after thet the engine cuts out and the battery light comes on. Any one got any ideas?Colin Quote
delboy82 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 hi, i have the same problem with my c2 1.1 design. had it to the dealer 4 times now only to be told "computer says no!" they just say there are no registered faults and it was ok on the test drive. they tried an ECU download which did very little other than it seems my average mpg has dropped from 49 to 44. i finally got fed up of it and took it back to have the rattling windows repaired, the trim fixed back up in the passenger footwell and radio checked as its always losing it settings and after a long conversation with someone who actually seemed to care about fixing it they have ordered a cylinder valve. the bloke on the desk couldnt realy be bothered to sit and explain what the problem was with it so i cant be of much help there.overall i find the car better than average, cheap to run, but certain aspects really should be improved and from what i have read on various websites the citroen service network need to improve their customer service standards.BTW does anyone else think the exhaust is a bit noisy on these? almost sounds like its blowing, it has been the same from new. sounds like a banger when it pulls off. Quote
